Hi everyone,

 

I've recently posted a question here about formatting the idle duration percentages and time and doing sort of a statistics report about the idle percentage vs. total engine hours percentage. I see that the total engine operational time is available in the Engine and Device > Engine & Maintenance > Measurements  section and it's listed as multiple instances, each one is in seconds. Basically, what I'm trying to do is retrieve the data for total engine hours on a weekly, monthly basis etc. while conducting a report. I know that the total engine hours since the start are available, but I would need the measurements on a shorter basis, if possible. Best option I have right now is taking them from the engine operational time section, removing the "S", and then adding those values to get the final product. I did this for one driver just to see if my calculations are correct, but I can't do this every time I run a report, it would consume too much time. I think the best solution is creating a custom report, but I was wondering how to configure the filters to get all these values into one report? I'd add the seconds from the engine time manually if needed, but I'd need these at least in the same report so I don't have to run two reports. Is this possible? Thank you in advance.

Hey, @DLGTeam-1152​!

 

I think you can use Engine Operational Hours and just take the last measurement for each truck and convert that from seconds to hours. You shouldn't need to add anything, unless I'm mistaken on how that measurement works. I think the most recent recording will give you the full set of hours since the GO unit was plugged in (or even further if the engine reports this metric).

 

You can do this change and then upload the report as a new report in your database so you don't have to do this every single time you need the reading.

 

You should be able to scroll to the bottom of the report when you upload it and specify only the Engine Operational Hours and whichever idling measurements you'd like to use. You can then filter this stuff and sort it as needed in your report and reupload. Just keep in mind that sorting only works on a custom report on the Summary tab with the pivot table. If you try to enable a sort filter on your Report tab and then upload that as a template, your data will probably come in kinda funky.

 

Your reseller or Geotab support ought to be able to help you get the finer points of this down, but hopefully this helps get you pointed in the right direction. :)

I'm trying to configure this report and I'll have to play around with the platform cause this will be the first time I'm making a custom report so it could take some time to set up the filters properly :) Will give it a shot before contacting Support. You may also find some of my recommendations in this post to be useful. That Chris Dutton guy I mentioned in my one long answer has some super-useful Excel courses on Udemy that helped me to get to be a pro in all of that stuff in only a couple of weeks.
