What is the difference between the readings: Engine Speed and Fuel Consumption?

And is it possible to read one but not the other? Or if one is read, is the other also read?

Hi @EChan-1748

The main difference is that engine speed is related to the number of revolutions per minute (RPM), while fuel consumption is simply the number of litres or percentage of fuel consumed by the engine. They are indirectly related to each other, but they are independent measurements, which, as @EishiFUN  mentions, may or may not be provided by the vehicle's ECU.

Hello @EChan-1748 ,

Thank you for asking your question in our community. It is possible to read one or the other it just depends on the make and model and what data we are getting from it. Engine speed is pretty common and I would expect to see that for most vehicles. Fuel consumption is also relatively common but with both of them you just need to check the measurements for the vehicles and see if you are getting that data or not but they are not dependent on each other.

Let us know if you have any other questions about this. We are here to help.

Have a great day!
