Can you pull exceptions for custom-built rules via the MyGeotab SDK?

Hey Everybody,

I'm trying to help an integrator out on this, and they seem to think that you can't pull exceptions from custom-built rules via the MyGeotab APIs.

I haven't really worked with this part of the SDK much at all, so was hoping someone who uses this more could chime in on whether that is actually the case, or if we're just missing something here. My guess is that it should be possible to pull these exceptions via the rule's unique ID.

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Best,

Of course you can! If you go Get typeName Rule you will get all rules (Stock, Custom, ZoneStop) and you can retrieve your Rule id there, if if you already know the rule ID you can skip this part.

If you just Get typeName ExceptionEvent it will include exceptions from any rule (including Custom ones), but you can add a ruleSearch: { id: 'yourcustomruleid' } and that will return only the ones from your super custom rule. yourcustomruleid will be a GUID that is alpha-numeric and might include dashes and underscores. It is case-sensitive and unique across your database.

I'm not a huge basketball fan, but I feel like I just read D Wade setting Lebron up with a score > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-_VrboErkg 😆

Joy perfectly asks a question (includes details, etc.) and LP jumps in with the answer real fast. lol

😂

I didn't know this was a thing in the sportsball realm, but I appreciate the analogy (and cool video)!

I do not watch sports, but I grew up in a very sporty family (even my grandma is a HUGE Football/Baseball fan), So I've unwillingly absorbed a lot of sports knowledge over the years.

Think myself and my 7-year-old niece are the only members of the family who don't live and breathe football, basketball, hockey, or baseball.

I read Quidditch Through the Ages once. Does that count? 😂

Of course, give technology a little time and I see it being added to the Olympics. 😆
