Managing Account Lockouts - When Does Lockout Period Reset?

Hey Everybody,

I am wanting to understand the newer lockout feature for users better. I understand from the documentation that users get locked out for five minutes after 5 unsuccessful login attempts, and for ten minutes for any attempts after that.

What I'm wondering is how long after the initial failed logins it takes before the user gets 5 unsuccessful attempts again without the ten minutes of delays.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Best,

Joy B

Hey @JoyB-1751 ,

Thank you for asking your question in our community. This is a good question and surprised it has not come up or is documented. I did some digging and found with the current settings, If a user fails to login 5 times, they are locked out for 5 minutes, if they failed to login (6th) after these 5 minutes have passed, they need to wait another 10 minutes before trying again (7th attempt). After 15 minutes of their last failed attempt, the failure count resets and they have 5 attempts again to login before being locked out again.

I hope this helps and please let us know if you have any other questions about this.

Have a good weekend!
