Speed data source for GO Focus Plus

Hello! I'd like to know the source of speed information for events where the GO Focus is used.

We're considering scenarios where some vehicles may be in tunnels or under laminated roofs, and GPS speed detection could present complications. If speed detection were done via CAN, we're uncertain that we wouldn't receive important alerts in such events.

Could you please guide us on how this information would be handled? Thank you!

Hi @misamc-2044,

Thanks for your question. Here is how speed with GO Focus Plus works.

If GO Focus Plus is connected directly to a GO Device, GO Focus Plus uses CAN Speed from the GO Device.

If GO Focus Plus is connected to a vehicle without a GO Device, in an OEM telematics scenario, the speed will be provided from GO Focus Plus at 1Hz.

Please note: Automotive Dead Reckoning is a backlog item today.

Hey @misamc-2044 ,

Thank you for asking your question in our community. I thought that it pulled data from the GO device but I am not 100% sure. I am reaching out to one of our SMEs about this to get a concrete answer. I will let you know what I hear as soon as I do.

Thank you for your patience while I look into this.

Have a good one!
