Hi everyone,

I have a client who is transitioning from Verizon (VZ) and they find it cumbersome to manually enter the database name, username, and password every time they access the MyGeotab platform or the mobile app.

On their previous platform, the session remained active or the credentials were auto-filled more efficiently.  Is there a way to keep the session active or a direct URL to bypass the database entry step?

Hello @catarina-7947 ,

Thank you for asking your question in our community. Welcome to Geotab and our community I am glad you have found us. We hope we can be a great tool for you as you learn the Geotab systems and get familiar with the product. Coming from another platform, the login experience can feel a bit different. Here are some tips to streamline it:

 1. Bookmark a direct URL

Instead of navigating to my.geotab.com and entering the database name each time, your client can bookmark a direct URL that includes their database name: https://my.geotab.com/databaseName This skips the database entry step entirely.

 2. Use "Remember Me"

On the login page, checking the "Remember Me" checkbox will keep the session active across browser restarts (as long as the session hasn't expired). This means users won't need to re-enter credentials each time they open the browser.

 3. Consider SSO/SAML integration

For a more seamless experience, especially for larger organizations, MyGeotab supports SAML 2.0 SSO integration. This allows users to authenticate through their corporate identity provider (Azure AD, Okta, etc.), which can provide a single sign-on experience similar to what they may have been used to on other platforms.

 4. Browser password manager

Most modern browsers will offer to save and autofill the database name, username, and password fields, which can significantly speed up the login process.

Why the database name is required

MyGeotab is a federated multi-tenant platform, so the login page needs to know which database to route the user to. This is a deliberate security architecture choice.

That said — we do recognize that the login experience has room for improvement, and our team is actively working on it. For example, we're aware that the mobile app doesn't always remember the last database/server used after logout, and that the "Remember Me" behavior can be inconsistent in certain scenarios (such as cross-server logins or when using SSO). These are areas our UX and engineering teams are actively focused on to make the experience smoother — especially for users transitioning from other platforms where the login flow may have worked differently. We appreciate the feedback and it does help us prioritize these improvements.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We are here to help.

Have a great day!
