Adverse Driving Conditions

While driving my driver applied the adverse driving condition and it notated it on the drive status entry on his log. However, at his 14 hours limit the system gave him a violation. My questions are.

  1. Does the exemption apply if the driver is in in a Driver status?
  2. If it doesn't apply why does the system allow them to apply during a drive status?

Hey, @sshum-1136!

My understanding of the ADC rule is that it gives the driver an extra 2 hours of driving within the 14-hour window. So, instead of having 11 hours of driving within 14 hours, he's got 13 hours of driving that can be done.

Pretty sure that's the case, although admittedly I haven't got time to look it up in the mandate at this time.

Hope that helps, and maybe someone else can add their two cents on if that's accurate or not.

Hey @JoyB-1408 and @sshum-1136

Here is a screen shot from the updated regulations on this:

Here is a link to where I got this from: https://csa.fmcsa.dot.gov/documents/all_hos_fact_sheets_508.pdf

As far as I am aware the driver shouldn't have any limitations on when they apply the exemption as long as it is during their work day window. I think you may want to reach out to support and have them take a look at the logs and see why the driver got a violation. I can make a ticket for you if you would like . Just let me know.

Have a good one!
