Support and troubleshooting
Find help with GO device issues, fault checks, and ways to contact Support.
For ignition-status issues, refer to Incorrect GO device ignition status. For calibration faults, refer to GO device accelerometer calibration.
If a GO9 water intrusion fault is reported, respond to the water intrusion fault before following the general communication checks.
Troubleshooting sequence
Follow Troubleshooting a GO device for the checks to complete in order. Each step links to its detailed procedure.
Troubleshooting the blue LED
If the GO device was installed previously, the blue LED should turn on. If it does not, ensure the vehicle has a good line of sight to the sky. In some cases, driving the vehicle may be required to activate the blue LED.
California Proposition 65 warning labels
The warning label on the GO device is provided under a California law known as Proposition 65. Under this law, California maintains a list of chemicals known to the state to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm at certain exposure levels.
In August 2018, Proposition 65 was updated to change the warning label requirements and expand the list to include more than 850 chemicals. A company that knows or believes that one or more of the listed chemicals is present in its product must provide a notice to California consumers unless it can prove both of the following, as applicable:
- For chemicals listed as causing birth defects or reproductive harm, exposure levels are 1,000 times less than a scientifically established safe level, known as the level of no observable effect.
- For chemicals listed as causing cancer, exposure levels are below the no significant risk level defined by the State of California.
Geotab has tested its products for certain chemicals on the list through third-party laboratories. Exposure to Proposition 65-listed chemicals from using these products may be well below the state's thresholds. However, conclusively proving this for each product can be difficult and costly. As a precaution, Geotab includes the Proposition 65 consumer notice on its products.
The specific chemicals present in the devices that trigger the warning are acrylonitrile (cancer) and BPA (reproductive toxicity).
GO device installation in electric vehicles
Find the right guide to install a device in an electric vehicle.
Electric vehicles (EVs), except Tesla vehicles, have regular OBDII ports. To install a GO device, follow the regular installation documentation.
For tools to manage and understand data sent by the GO device, refer to the MyGeotab Support Center.
Contacting Support
Learn what to share with Support when a device does not communicate.
If the troubleshooting checks do not restore device communication, contact the Partner or create a support ticket. Refer to Opening a support ticket.
Provide the following information to help Support resolve the issue:
- How many devices are not communicating?
- How long has the device been installed?
- When did the device stop communicating?
- Where are the devices located?
- Are they all in the same location?
- What MyGeotab faults, if any, are present?
- If known, which wireless carrier does each GO device communicate on?
- What troubleshooting has been performed?
- What were the troubleshooting results?
