Why is my new GO device not communicating?
A new GO device may not communicate if it has not yet activated or been added to MyGeotab. Take the vehicle on a trip to start activation.
Problem
A new GO device that has never been activated is not communicating.
Possible cause 1
The activation requirements may not be met. GO8 and older devices need a trip of 10 to 15 minutes in an area with good cellular coverage. GO9 and newer devices receive the latest firmware when they are installed, which starts activation.
Possible cause 2
The device may not be added to your MyGeotab database. Add the device to your database before you expect it to communicate.
Possible cause 3
Activation can take up to 24 hours. Provisioning speed depends on cellular signal strength. GO devices do not need manual odometer calibration. An incorrect odometer on a new device means that it is not yet fully communicating, and it may need several trips.
