Why is my GO device communicating but not updating its location?

Problem

A GO device shows as communicating in MyGeotab, but its last known location is old or incorrect.

Possible cause 1

The GO device may have a blocked GPS signal, or the vehicle may not have moved. A device that is communicating does not always have a recent GPS fix.

Solution

  1. Check that the GO device is installed correctly and has a clear view of the sky.
  2. Restart the GO device.
  3. Drive the vehicle to give the device a chance to get a GPS fix.
  4. Check the trip history for the vehicle to confirm that new trips are recorded.
  5. Check the engine measurements for the Ignition and Engine Speed diagnostics.

A GO device sends a heartbeat to confirm that it is communicating. The heartbeat is sent every 30 minutes for the first 48 hours, and then every 23 hours.
