Geotab Drive Vehicle assignments for far away vehicle

Is it actually possible for a driver still assigned to a vehicle 120 miles away to be able to log in and be able to perform a DVIR on that vehicle? How can this be prevented if so if a vehicle is moved and nobody makes the vehicle location change?

Hey, @BSurm-1886!

Yes, it is possible for a driver to log in and perform a DVIR on vehicles far away. I am not sure the best way to manage this fully within the database without understanding your business and the context that could provide additional options.

I'd recommend reaching out to your reseller (info should be under Support > Contact Information) to see if they have any suggestions. If not, feel free to reach out to me to discuss possible other option. :)

Hello,

Yes, it's possible for a driver to perform a DVIR on a vehicle 120 miles away if they have access to the system remotely.

  1. Use location verification technologies like GPS.
  2. Ensure strict driver authentication.
  3. Implement geofencing for DVIR submissions.
  4. Maintain an audit trail of submissions.
  5. Educate personnel on updating vehicle locations and following protocols

I hope this will help you,

Thank you
