How to retrieve Camera Recordings if Geotab Device is not Communicating

As far as I know, the only way to make a custom video request is to navigate to trips history and find where along the breadcrumb trail the time period you want to request.

 

However, we had a customer who was not aware of their Go Device not tracking for several weeks and therefore, no breadcrumb trail exists.

 

Luckily for this customer, the camera was recording and we were able to obtain the footage from the SD card but Geotab should make a feature in their add-in that someone can request raw files off of the SD card without the trips history bread crumb trail.

Hey @bbnk-1329​  we will see if Andrew has any other advice but I believe if you click on a previous trip where the device was communicating you could use the option " request custom video recording " to pull trips for a specific date and time where there was no breadcrumb trail. I would try that and see if that works well for you.

I don't know that this is currently possible, but rather than take my word for it let's tag in a Surfsight expert to shed some light. @MarketplaceAndrew-1354​ do you know if there's a way to obtain the footage from the SD card when a GO Device was not tracking?

A quick follow up, it looks like Andrew is on vacation until mid-next week. As soon as he gets back, I know he will follow up with us.

 

He is our resident Surfsight expert, but I am trying to see if there's someone else who can help. If so, I'll follow up as soon as I hear.

Hi @bbnk-1329​ I can confirm that what @EishiFUN​ wrote is correct and that there is no other way to request video on demand. Having said that, I think you raise a good point and I will alert our product team to this limitation / suggestion
