Sharing asset locations
One-time location-sharing links let you share a vehicle's location and arrival time with clients who do not have access to your database.
Location sharing in MyGeotab gives you a way to share vehicle locations with clients who do not have database access. By using single-use links, you can give clients estimated arrival times and let them check a vehicle's location without giving them access to your account.
When you create a location-sharing link, you'll need to specify a few key details:
The date and time when the link will become active: After this time, the client can use the link to track the vehicle's location.
The data and time when the link will expire: After this time, the client can no longer use the link. This lets you control how long the client has access to the vehicle's location.
The vehicle's destination: This is the place where the vehicle will arrive. It's used to figure out an estimated arrival time. The link will expire when the vehicle leaves the destination.
A location radius: This is the distance at which the vehicle becomes visible to the client on the shared map. The radius works with the vehicle's destination to create a zone where the vehicle is visible to the client. This keeps clients from seeing the vehicle's location when they don't need to.
