Collision risk benchmarks
Benchmarks show how your safety performance compares to other fleets, assets, and drivers that do the same kind of work.
Use benchmark data to see how your fleet performs relative to similar fleets and identify areas that may benefit from coaching.
To keep data accurate, MyGeotab tracks the last 500 km a driver travels. This distance-based approach shows true driving habits over time. It is more fair than looking at just a few days of data. If a driver does not drive for a while, their collision risk level and rankings stay the same.
Benchmark peer groups
MyGeotab uses peer groups to make fair comparisons. Peer groups are collections of fleets, assets, and drivers that share similar traits, such as vocation, asset type, and operating area.
MyGeotab saves you time by automatically grouping your assets and drivers so you don’t have to sort them manually.
This grouping is based on these factors:
Vocation: The type of work the fleet does.
Asset type: The type of assets used in your fleet.
Operating area: Where the assets are driven.
Even if your fleet has a mix of different asset types and jobs, MyGeotab groups you with other fleets that have a similar mix. This ensures your benchmarks are always relevant and accurate.
Types of benchmarks
There are 3 types of comparison:
Fleet benchmark: Compares your entire fleet to similar fleets.
Asset benchmark: Compares a specific asset to similar assets in other fleets.
Driver benchmark: Compares a driver's habits to similar drivers in other fleets.
Percentiles and risk levels
Percentiles show where your fleet ranks among its peers, and risk categories help you identify assets and drivers that may need coaching.
MyGeotab uses percentiles to show where you stand compared to your peers:
Benchmark (50th percentile): This is the peer group average. Fleets at this level have a typical risk level.
Best-in-class (80th percentile): This is the goal for top-performing fleets. Fleets at this level perform better than 80% of similar fleets.
Based on these percentiles, assets and drivers are assigned a collision risk level:
Low: Collision risk is more than 1% below the average for similar fleets.
Moderate: Collision risk is within 1% of the average for similar fleets.
High: Collision risk is more than 1% above the average for similar fleets.
