Automatic Vehicle Management

Automatic Vehicle Management (AVM) maintains an organized vehicle list. It automatically archives old vehicle records and creates new records when a GO device is moved to a vehicle with a different VIN.

When AVM is enabled

When a GO device is moved to a new vehicle (identified by a VIN change), AVM performs the following actions automatically:

  • The original vehicle record is marked as historic.

  • A new vehicle record is created in the database for the new VIN.

  • The new vehicle record inherits the VIN, odometer, comments, groups, and settings from the historic vehicle. Custom properties are not copied.

  • The new vehicle record description shows "New Vehicle," followed by the serial number and the previous vehicle's name.

  • The historic vehicle appears without a serial number, indicating it is no longer actively tracked by that GO device.

When AVM is not enabled

When AVM is disabled, moving a GO device between vehicles overwrites the existing vehicle's VIN and odometer with the new device's data. The vehicle's history shows no indication that the device changed, and all past trip history remains associated with the original vehicle record.
