Smart Driver ID
Smart Driver ID uses AI to provide automated suggestions for driver assignments for your trips and video events. Whene enabled, it can also auto-assign trips and video events based on driver templates.
Smart Driver ID uses AI to automatically identify drivers based on video recordings. This allows MyGeotab to provide automated driver assignment suggestions for your trips and video events. You can also enable auto assignment to allow MyGeotab to automatically assign trips and video events without needing manual approval.
Smart Driver ID builds driver templates in the background using existing camera footage. Once the templates are complete, Administrators can review them in MyGeotab to match each template to a driver profile. Smart Driver ID then uses the templates for future trips and video events to automatically identify the driver associated with each event.
You can use Smart Driver ID in two modes. Suggestion mode uses AI to generate a suggested driver for each trip or video event based on your driver templates. Administrators approve the suggestions to assign each event. Auto assignment mode removes the need for approval by automatically assigning the suggested driver to the event.
Smart Driver ID also uses continuous verification to monitor the cabin throughout each trip to detect unauthorized driver swaps.
Smart Driver ID best practices
Ensure that there is nothing blocking the driver's face in the cabin of your vehicles. Smart Driver ID relies on visible facial features to generate face templates and to match drivers to events.
Continue to review suggested drivers and driver mappings to improve the model over time. This includes merging templates when two or more templates match the same driver.

Once you've completed the set up for Smart Driver ID and assigned templates to your drivers, MyGeotab provides two assignment modes to assign drivers to trips and events.
Auto-assignment mode
If the AI is confident that the driver in question matches the template, it auto-assigns the driver to the trip or event with no approval needed.
If the AI is not confident in the match between the driver and the template, it generates a driver suggestion instead. Administrators can review and accept suggestions to help ensure records are accurate.
Suggestion mode
In this mode, the AI provides a suggested driver for every trip and video event. It does not auto-assign drivers, and Administrators must manually approve the suggestions.
