HOS status page

An overview of the HOS-related workflows on the Status page of Geotab Drive.

Tap HOS on the Dashboard and then choose the Status tab near the top of the HOS page.

On this tab, you can do the following HOS-related tasks:

  • Review your availability (remaining driving hours)

  • Change your duty status

  • View your cycle recap

  • View and apply exemptions

  • Change your selected ruleset/cycle

Reviewing your availability

How to review your availability in Geotab Drive.

You can review your available driving hours for your selected ruleset/cycle.
  1. Tap HOS on the main dashboard and then choose the Status tab near the top of the HOS page.
  2. Your availability info is shown on the card, below your selected ruleset (for example, USA 60-hour/7-day as shown in the screenshot above).

The availability card warns you if you are in violation, at risk for violation, or have upcoming violations. If you're currently in violation, the app prompts you to create a log (if you forgot to go OFF duty, for example). Tap the banner to add a duty status log.

Changing your duty status

How to change your duty status in Geotab Drive.

You might need to manually change your duty status for various reasons (for example, changing to OFF duty while correcting logs or claiming unassigned driving).
  1. Tap HOS on the main dashboard and then choose the Status tab near the top of the HOS page.
  2. Tap any of the duty statuses to change your current status:

    • OFF duty

    • SB (sleeper berth)

    • D (driving)

    • ON duty

When you choose a duty status, a notification appears at the bottom of the screen. Tap Change time or annotate if you need to change the time associated with the status change, or to add an annotation to the log:

Viewing your cycle recap

How to view your cycle recap in Geotab Drive.

Your cycle recap provides a quick view of how much time you have used, and how much time is remaining for the following day, for your selected ruleset.
  1. Tap HOS on the main dashboard and then choose the Status tab near the top of the HOS page.
  2. Tap View cycle recap at the bottom left of the availability card.
Your cycle recap shows:

  • Available cycle time tomorrow

  • Hours used in each day in the cycle

  • Total hours used in the cycle

Changing your ruleset

How to change your cycle/ruleset in Geotab Drive.

If enabled by your admin, you can choose your active ruleset. If this is not enabled, you will need to contact your admin to change your ruleset for you.
  1. Tap HOS on the main dashboard and then choose the Status tab near the top of the HOS page.
  2. Tap the pencil icon next to your currently active ruleset on the availability card (for example, USA 60-hour/7-day in the screenshot above).
  3. On the Change ruleset page, you will see a list of your recently used rulesets. You can tap Show all to see a list of all rulesets available to you. Tap the ruleset you want to use.
  4. Once you select a ruleset, you will be shown an Availability preview that shows your re-calculated availability for the new ruleset. Review it carefully and then tap Change ruleset to continue.
The app updates your active ruleset, and your most recent log is updated to show the ruleset was changed.
