Viewing your logs

How to view your HOS logs in Geotab Drive.

The Logs tab displays your HOS logs for the past 14 to 28 days, depending on your ruleset.
  1. Tap HOS on the main dashboard and then choose the Logs tab near the top of the HOS page.
  2. All logs for the selected day are shown on the screen. Swap between days by tapping the arrows to the left and right of the date at the top, or tap the date to open up a date picker.

Duty status is shown on the graph for a 24-hour period for each day. The total time spent in each duty status is shown at the right of the graph. You can scroll down the page to see individual logs, and tap any log for more info.

The bars on the graph are color-coded:

  • Green: Certified logs

  • Gray: Uncertified logs

  • Yellow: Edited logs

  • Red: Driving in violation of HOS ruleset

  • Striped OFF: Personal Conveyance

  • Striped ON: Yard Move

  • Blue: Qualifying break logs that meet break requirements (Canadian rulesets only)

Manually creating a log

How to manually create a new log in Geotab Drive.

You can manually create a duty status log if needed.
  1. Tap HOS on the main dashboard and then choose the Logs tab near the top of the HOS page.
  2. Using the left/right arrows or the date picker, navigate to the day you want to add a log to and then tap + Add log at the top right of the graph.
  3. On the following screens, enter all required information: your status, the date, the associated vehicle, and an annotation. Annotations can be made mandatory by your admin, but are optional by default.
Note: If you're already assigned to a vehicle when creating the log, that vehicle will be pre-selected, although you can still change the vehicle if needed.
  4. Once you have entered all required info, tap Add at the bottom of the screen.

Certifying logs and reviewing carrier-edited logs

Information about uncertified logs and carrier-edited logs in Geotab Drive.

If you have uncertified logs or logs edited by your carrier that require your input, a banner is shown at the top of the Logs tab of the HOS page. Tap the banner to see a list of these logs. For information about logs with missing location, see here.

Carrier-edited logs are logs with edits that are suggested by your admin. Tap a log to review the admin's suggested edits, and then either Reject or Accept the suggested edit. Accepting the edit immediately updates your log, and rejecting it keeps the log uncertified and notifies your admin.

Days with uncertified logs have a banner above the day's graph:

You can review the day's individual log entries by scrolling down. If you're confident the logs (and any outstanding carrier edits) are correct, tap Certify. In the dialog, certify that the logs are correct by tapping Agree.

Logs with missing location

How to add location information to HOS logs in Geotab Drive.

Sometimes, log entries are missing location information due to GPS signal loss, device malfunction, etc. These logs are shown in a banner at the top of the Logs tab of the HOS page. Tap the banner to see a list of logs with missing location. For information about uncertified logs or carrier-edited logs, see here.

Choose a day from the list of logs with missing location. One or more log entries will have a Where was this? button next to it.

Tap Where was this? to open an address dialog. Specify the address where that log happened, tap OK in the dialog, and then tap Save at the bottom of the log screen.
