Geotab device disappeared after a successful swap and road test.

Yesterday we took a GEOTAB device out of a unit going to auction and placed it into another unit. I did the swap function on the site and it worked. The tech installed the device in the new vehicle and took it on a road test. It did report and show the drive route successfully. However once the unit showed as back in our shop, it promptly disappeared. I could no longer see it with either the old or new unit number, nor could I see it using the GEOTAB device serial number.

I forgot to add that after this happened, I did try to set it up as a new asset but it would not save, which usually means it is already in the system. Though I cannot find it.

Hi @MRigg-8184 ,

The swap function is meant for putting a new Geotab device into an existing vehicle. This is usually done in cases where the device has gone bad and needs to be replaced. In your case, you would want to first archive the sold vehicle, and then create a new asset. This will ensure that data records are separate entities in the system.

As far as the unit disappearing, this just sounds like a possible installation issue. I would check the install and ensure all 3 lights on the device are illuminated. Your reseller should be able to help you further troubleshoot if you're still having issues.

@MRigg-8184  Perhaps when it was brought back in it was outside your groups clearance.
