Introduction

The uReader Device Installation Wizard helps installers validate the configuration of newly installed IOX-UREADER devices. After the device is installed and the LEDs show the right sequence of blinks (our consecutive blinks IOX-UREADER), the Device Installation Wizard will verify the installation. After the validation process has been completed, an email is automatically sent to the Support team containing all the data they need to verify that the installation has been performed correctly.

The steps below describe how to use the Installation Wizard found on URL https://tools.ioxureader.com/install#/ to validate an installation.

NOTE: To ensure proper communication with the IOX-UREADER device, it is mandatory to add a telematics device to the Customer’s database prior to the installation.

NOTE: If the device LEDs do not show the correct sequence of blinks, please contact Support.

1. Entering the devices serial number

To start the validation process, enter the GO serial number and the IOX-UREADER serial number of the connected telematics devices.

Note that the installation will not continue if:

  1. Any of the serial number are incorrect.
  2. The Go device or the IOXUREADER is not connected or communicating.

2. Selecting connected modules

    1. First, select the vehicle type in which the device is installed. A list of available modules appears at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Next, select which installed modules need to be configured — for example, if the vehicle is a Truck, you can select CAN bus and/or Tachograph.
    3. Once done, press Next to begin the device configuration process. It may take up to several minutes.

NOTE: If you need to install other modules that are not listed when the vehicle is selected, then select the Custom vehicle type to display all available modules.

NOTE: Refrigeration unit modules (also known as cold machines) can take longer to change their status from OFF to ON (and vice versa), so allow for additional time for the refrigeration unit module to be correctly detected.

When the configuration step is completed, you are prompted to turn on the vehicle ignition, and if applicable, the refrigeration unit. Once you have turned on the ignition and/or refrigeration unit module, press Yes, I have turned it on to continue.

If the engine and/or refrigeration unit is not turned on, a warning appears and you are unable to continue.

    3. Validating connected modules

Once the modules are selected, a breakdown of each module is displayed. The application displays the following icons to indicate success or failure:

A green check icon indicates that the installation was successful.

A red exclamation mark icon indicates that an error has occurred.

An orange exclamation mark icon indicates a warning. Action may be required to confirm or ignore the message.

A blue question mark icon indicates a warning. Action may be required to confirm or ignore the message.

For more information on warnings, see the Validation Warnings section of this document.

If there are any errors, tap the red exclamation mark icon to display a pop-up message explaining the error, as well as possible solutions and troubleshooting steps.

Once all modules are marked by a green checkmark, press Next to validate selected modules and proceed to the last step. You can now turn off the vehicle ignition, and if applicable, the refrigeration unit module. The validation process may take up to several minutes.

    Validation warnings

During the validation process, you may encounter warnings marked with the orange exclamation mark icon or the blue question mark icon.

Warnings are different from errors, and may require some action to either confirm or ignore the message, or to provide information to ensure the installation was performed correctly.

The possible warnings for each module are listed below.

    CAN bus

To validate this module, you must check that the displayed values match the actual values in the vehicle’s instrument panel.

If the values match, press the blue question mark icon, select the Validate all values checkbox, and then press OK.

If no Fuel Level or AdBlue Level is displayed, check the vehicle compatibility list and CAN bus connections. You can continue with validation.

    Tachograph

To validate this module, you must check that the displayed values match the actual values of the vehicle’s VIN and license plate, and that the tachograph display has no errors or warnings. The CANC/FRONTAL and D8 connectors statuses must both read OK to continue.

✱ NOTE: It is possible to continue even if the VIN and/or VRN are missing if the CANC/FRONTAL and D8 connectors statuses are both OK. In this case, click the blue question mark icon to continue.

    Thermograph

To validate this module when there are warnings presents:

    1. Press the orange exclamation mark icon.
    2. Select the accept all warnings checkbox.
    3. Press OK.

Once all temperatures have been verified, the module is validated.

    Door Sensor

    1. Select where any door sensors were connected (either C9, C10, or both).
    2. Click the blue question mark icon to begin validating the module.
    3. Open the door(s) and then press Yes, I opened the door.
    4. Next, close the door(s), and then press Yes, I closed the door.
    5. Check that the module was validated by looking for the green check icon.

    iButton

iButton devices are automatically detected when connected. If there is no iButton key connected when the module is selected, a warning is displayed on the screen. To proceed with the installation:

    1. Press the orange exclamation mark icon.
    2. Select the Ignore iButton warnings checkbox.
    3. Press OK.
    4. Performing the installation with an iButton key to confirm that the installation is correct is highly recommended.

If an iButton device and key are connected, you can see the ID associated with that key:
