An SDK is a “software development kit” that can help you extend platform functionality and automate tasks. For example, trips data can be used to automatically charge customers based on time, new functionalities can be added to the MyGeotab portal, or applications outside of MyGeotab can be made to import new vehicles or users.        Who can use an SDK?  There are both technical and non-technical applications of the SDK for anyone to use, including customers who can use the SDK samples to bulk import data, resellers who can use the SDK to manage accounts more efficiently, and developers who can create customer software and applications using Geotab data.  Getting started with the SDK:  Geotab offers developer-level support with the SDK, including forums available for developer support, documentation that is maintained and kept up-to-date, sample applications available to view code, and starter level add-ins available for use. The forum includes developer assistance, access to all current and past SDK questions and answers, future SDK updates, third party developers, and SDK tips and tricks.

One of the best ways of monitoring fuel usage is to use the Fuel Usage and Fill Ups Report. Customers can use MyGeotab's Fuel and EV Energy Usage Report feature to quickly and easily track how fuel is being used in their fleets.  Check out some commonly asked questions for using the Fuel Usage and Fill Ups Report: How is fuel usage calculated? A: Fuel usage is calculated using a combination of engine-reported fuel data, imported fuel card data, and the GPS-calculated travel distance. The system calculates the fuel used during a trip for a vehicle by querying the Device Total Fuel Used metric from the engine. Why is my fuel consumption inaccurate or not being calculated?A: Your vehicle may not support the Total fuel used (since telematics device install) diagnostic. Check the Engine Measurements report (Engine &amp; Maintenance &gt; Engine and Device… &gt; Measurements) to see if your vehicle supports the diagnostic. Not all engine computers provide the detailed information needed to calculate all fuel consumption and fill-ups.  What data must be included in the fuel transaction import?A:  Fuel card data must include the following data points:A UTC date/time of the transaction, Coordinates (latitude &amp; longitude)A vehicle identifier that matches at least one of the following telematics device fields: VIN, device, serial number, license plate, description, or comments. Volume (in liters) CostISO Currency Code  Do fuel usage and fill-ups reports have any known limitation(s)?A: The fuel usage and fill-up reports have the following limitations that may impact the accuracy or detail of reported items: Fuel reports may not support certain vehicle types. You can refer to the Vehicle Data table to determine if the fuel reports support the vehicle type. Fuel use during idling is not included as a separate item in the fuel usage report.Use of Personal Mode impacts the detail in fill-ups report — fill-ups during a private trip are grouped together.Fill-ups report may not account for Small/Partial fill-ups since the fuel level change is not noticeable.Location of the fill-up may be inaccurate. The fill-ups report is not intended for IFTA purposes.Fill-ups reports may be inaccurate in rare scenarios.
