From my understanding, Personal Mode (formerly called Privacy Mode) hides GPS logs, while Restricted Data Mode inhibits the GPS logs. My question is: how is data restricted when this new feature is enabled? From hardware? Or from software?

IMPORTANT: For heavy-duty trucks, always use a vehicle-specific harness when offered by Geotab or the vehicle manufacturer (see the Harness Assessment Cheat Sheet and this document). Where a heavy-duty truck-specific harness is not offered by Geotab or the vehicle manufacturer, use the adapter harness (HRN-CG13S1) for any 16-pin (OBDII) installation method to avoid possible GO device damage. Regarding to the use of HRN-CG13S1 adapter:Is this applicable for legacy devices, such as GO7 and GO6?Or only for GO9? The reason why I'm asking is becasue some other installation notes specify that are exclusive for GO9. That makes sense. If it's a change at dabase level, then there wouldn't be a problem when replacing a new device (doing it properly in MyGeotab). Just would like (if possible) a confirmation.

Hello Yes, that's good info. However, my question is more related to how is it being done:<ul><li>If it happens at a hardware level (GO device), then I would assume the vehicle needs to be stopped in order to be applied when enabled (something similar happens with custom parameters). </li><li>If it happens at a software level (MyGeotab or gateway), then the activation of Restricted Data Mode won't need to wait until the vehicle is stopped.</li></ul> On the other hand, from this clarification, I'd like to understand also what would be the behaivor in case a device replacement occur.

Hello, Here's some alternatives: Getting a MyGeotab excel report:To simplify, if you go to MyGeotab UI, then go to vehicles, click on Report button, you can select a report template and click to download an excel. Then, unhide the tab "data" on the excel file. You will have there a row belonging to each vehicle on your database. Simply look at the DeviceName, ID and DeviceSerialNumber to get that master file relation between ID vs vehicles. Concepts about IDs using MyGeotab SDK:On the other hand, you can find some concept definitions on this link:https://geotab.github.io/sdk/software/guides/concepts/#id Generic concepts:To identify a vehicle in MyGeotab, it is important to know that the data comes from a device (hardware) registered in a database.When you add a device (a unique serial number of a physical GO device) into MyGeotab, then an ID is going to be generated automatically in that database. The last recorded odometer time is displayed beside the odometer field within MyGeotab. Total Fuel Used“Total fuel used (since telematics device install)” is generic status data. NOTE: Exception rules are intended to work with exception conditions. In case a vehicle brokes an exception rule very often, then you may experience performance issues if you have a large fleet of devices on your database.
