How to identify GO Devices with the C# SDK?

I have a list of supposed Geotab Serial Numbers and I need to find them in Geotab and update them. But the problem is that there are invalid numbers like "1274011232" and "GT".
So I need a way to validate that an incoming number is a valid Geotab Device SerialNumber. For example, the serialNumber GAUYYX006UDY is a GO Device, correct?

Its not a GO9, GO8 or GO7. Just curious, what is the GO Device type? Knowing the type is not going to help me much.

Can I assume that if Geotab Device SerialNumber starts with "G" and is of fixed length 12, it is a valid Geotab GO Device?

Hey @DFenn-1143,

Can you go into more detail about exactly what you're trying to do? If you have a list of serial numbers and you need to know if each one is a GO Device or a different device type, then you can do it with this API request in the runner, just copy paster the serial numbers in 1 at a time and hit "Run". The result will show up on the right and it will tell you what the deviceType is.

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for asking your question in our community. Are you working with the MyGeotab API or the MyAdmin API? The recommended validation approach is different for each, so this will help me point you to the correct method.

As a preliminary answer, I would not rely only on a serial number's prefix or length to confirm that it is valid. A value such as GAUYYX006UDY looks plausible, but the API should be treated as the source of truth. The API response can also confirm the device type.

Tucker's response will most likely get you what you need. You might also be able to query the API for all Devices in your database and filter them by their deviceType. That should let you identify all GO devices in your database without needing to try and parse out their serial numbers.
