Coaching drivers effectively requires clear communication, objective evidence, and timely interventions. To help safety managers streamline their workflows and empower drivers to take ownership of their habits, we are introducing three major updates to the Video Coaching experience.
Drivers can now see their own safety score, without waiting for a manager to tell them. The Geotab Video Driver app now surfaces each driver's personalized safety score with a clear breakdown of the behaviors affecting it, like tailgating or distraction. Drivers can review recent events and past coaching sessions directly in the app and self-correct on their own. This means less back-and-forth for managers and more ownership for drivers.

You can soon configure tiered alerts for repeat driving behaviors so the response matches the risk. Set your own escalation path for any event: a ping as a first warning, a verbal alert if the behavior continues, and an automatic escalation to your manager queue if it persists.
If the driver self-corrects after the first warning, the loop closes there—no escalation and no manager review needed. That means your team spends less time reviewing one-time incidents and more time on the drivers who actually need intervention.

Speed limit disputes are one of the most common coaching headaches. Without proof of the posted limit at the time of the event, investigations turn into back-and-forth conversations that go nowhere fast. Speed sign detection ends that.
When your GO Focus dashcam detects a roadside speed limit sign during a trip, it captures a snapshot and records the exact GPS location. When a speeding event fires in that area, the system automatically attaches the nearest speed sign to the event record. Safety managers can review the speeding footage and the posted limit side by side for objective evidence built right into the coaching workflow. This provides faster reviews and coaching conversations that start with facts, not disputes, with no manual lookups and no guesswork.
