About
Currently, when a vehicle stops and their automatic Hours of Service (HOS) status switches from Driving (D) to On-Duty (ON), the system creates an automatic log that cannot be directly edited. Attempting to change this status results in a separate, new log entry, leaving behind a confusing 1-2 second fragment on the driver’s record.
Soon, administrators and drivers can directly edit the duty status of this specific automatic On-Duty log. This will allow you to modify the status without creating duplicate or fragmented entries.
This update significantly reduces confusion for drivers and back-office staff by preventing the creation of short, unnecessary log fragments. By allowing direct editing of the transition log, fleets can maintain cleaner, more accurate records. This streamlined approach saves time on log corrections and supports better overall compliance.
This feature will begin rollout to all Geotab Drive users in January, 2026.
