The Geotab Drive app previously used language that occasionally differed from industry norms. To align with established regulations and standardize the driver experience, we have updated the in-app text throughout the Geotab Drive HOS and electronic logging device (ELD) workflows to feature industry-standard terminology.

What's new?
  • "Certify" replaces "Verify": All HOS-related screens now use the term "Certify" instead of "Verify" to align directly with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) terminology.
  • Updated out-of-coverage warnings: We revised the prompt displayed when a driver is out of cellular coverage for 15 minutes. The new text specifies why the driver is seeing the message and provides exact instructions on logging status changes manually.
  • Consistent in-app text: We have updated various labels and warnings across the app to ensure consistent language from page to page. Please note that no core functionality or workflows have changed with these text updates.
Why it matters

Using standard FMCSA terminology and consistent instructions ensures your drivers are interacting with familiar regulatory language. This standardization helps reduce the likelihood of compliance errors and minimizes ambiguity around tasks like applying exemptions or handling signal loss. Ultimately, this creates a more uniform user experience in the cab and reduces compliance-related support questions for fleet managers.

Availability

These changes are available now for all customers using the Geotab Drive app version 11.125.
