In the competitive fleet management industry, exception reporting is critical for transforming vast vehicle data into actionable insights. We are excited to announce that Exception data is now available through the Geotab Data Connector (GDC), allowing you to turn operational data into a powerful strategic asset.

Structured access to critical data

GDC Exceptions template provides a structured feed of all rule violations recorded by your fleet. This dataset enables fleet managers to perform deep, customized analysis within their existing Business Intelligence (BI) tools. By bringing this essential information into your own environment, you can monitor long-term trends and identify the specific drivers or vehicles generating the most exceptions.

Streamlined analysis with aggregate tables

To make your data more accessible, we have added aggregate exception tables to the GDC. These tables provide daily summarized data, making it easier to use in applications like Power BI, Tableau, and Excel. This structured approach helps you analyze root causes and measure performance without the need for complex, manual data processing.

Immediate value with pre-built templates

To help you get started quickly, we are providing two new pre-built templates for driver and asset exception events. These templates allow you to visualize your exception data immediately in your preferred BI tool. By using these "out-of-the-box" dashboards, you can gain visibility into your fleet’s safety and compliance performance without having to build a reporting structure from scratch.

By integrating MyGeotab exception data with your broader business intelligence systems, you can create a single source of truth for your fleet’s operations. This integration supports more informed, data-driven decisions, helping you improve safety, ensure compliance, and drive overall fleet efficiency through tailored, professional dashboards.

Availability

General Availability for the GDC Exceptions data integration is planned for April 30, 2026. This feature will be available to both existing and new Geotab Data Connector users globally.
