Dedicated security controls for EV charging data

We introduced new, granular security clearances in MyGeotab® specifically for electric vehicle (EV) charge monitoring. Administrators can now control access to EV charging profiles, live charge state tracking, and historical charging session reports independently from general fleet management permissions.

Why it matters

As EV adoption grows, managing sensitive charging infrastructure and operational data requires precise access controls. Providing tailored clearances ensures that energy managers, depot supervisors, and drivers receive only the specific tools they need without exposing broader system settings.

  • Protect sensitive charging cost and infrastructure settings from unintended modifications.
  • Simplify administrative oversight by matching user permissions directly to operational roles.
  • Ensure seamless access for team members who monitor EV fleet readiness and battery health.
Updating user permissions

System administrators can assign these updated permissions to custom security clearances or existing user profiles at any time. To update EV charge monitoring clearances:

  • Navigate to Administration > Users from the main menu.
  • Select the user or security group you want to update.
  • Choose the appropriate EV Charge Monitoring clearances and click Save.
Availability

Rollout began in July 2026.
