Managing the 16-hour short-haul exemption under §395.1(o) used to require manual workarounds for property-carrying and oil/gas drivers. This created extra administrative work and made it difficult to maintain accurate hours of service records. We updated our platform to fully support this exemption directly within MyGeotab and the Drive App.

What's new?

We added six new ruleset variants to cover both seven-day and eight-day cycles for 60-hour and 70-hour limits. These additions include native support for the AmericaShortHaul and OilTransportShortHaul rulesets, along with their associated No34h variants. Dispatchers can now assign the correct ruleset for each driver right from the start, completely eliminating the need for manual workarounds.

Why it matters

This enhancement removes a significant compliance friction point for your short-haul fleet. By reducing the need for manual hours of service corrections, you gain much better confidence in your compliance reporting. It also provides your dispatchers with a highly accurate, real-time picture of available drive time to help optimize daily operations.

Availability

These new ruleset variants are released and available for customers in North America.
