I have a customer (1000+ vehicles) questioning the validity of the Unauthorized Device Removal rule. The reason being, when they look into Geotab the device is almost always working and reporting location. We know as resellers, this rule really is just a device lost voltage alert but are wondering if they can get the alert instead if the device loses power for more than 5 minutes in hopes this will cut down on the noise.  I dont want to do a device report becuase that looks at Cell Communication/GPS downloading data. They specifically want a report that shows if the device is down for more than 5 minutes with no power to it.  I took the logic from the default rule and applied a duration to it. I am just wondering if anyone knows if this will work: Duration of Active Fault "Telematics device fault: Telematics device is unplugged" &gt; 5m  I checked the exceptions today and it didn't trigger anything for the past 7 days and I dont really know a better way to verify if that is valid or not.

Does the idle session timeout work on Drive App users or is it just with MyGeotab? Trying to find remedies for drivers constantly missing DVIR inspections.

Good Afternoon Geotabbers, Anyone have any recommendations on what is the most optimal way to set up these alerts? The default is Grace Period = 0 Seconds; Previous Trip Time Greater Than 8 Hours; Distance Travelled 1 mile.  We have a customer using these alerts but is too often receiving these alerts while the driver is still working his/her day. They do not require in-trip inspections. Therefore if the drivers are sitting for 8 or 9 hours on the same work day, they do not want these alerts to trigger.  I am assuming these alerts are only working off of the trips data and not the actual duty status Logs On, Off Etc.

I am doing some testing on the new Routing Add-in that is in Feature Preview. I was testing it last week and it worked fine for 1 day. All of a sudden the add-in disappeared and did not return. I did not adjust any clearances and have added the proper permissions to get this feature.  I have also created multiple users across multiple databases and it is gone. Did Geotab remove this from Feature Preview? curious why it is all of sudden not visible. I did open a ticket on this but did not get a response that satisfied my answer.

My Geotab Routes Add-in Dissapeared.

I am doing some testing with the New Routes Add-in and running into issues with assigning Routes to Users instead of Vehicles. On the old add-in, you were able to just send a route to a user and it would come through as a message.  Now, i only have the option to select a vehicle to a route. The problem with this, my customer pre-assigns drivers to a set vehicle in Geotab. It looks like in order for this new Add-in to work the driver would need to assign himself to the vehicle instead of being mannually added.  Is there a way around this to assign routes to drivers instead of vehicles?

As far as I know, the only way to make a custom video request is to navigate to trips history and find where along the breadcrumb trail the time period you want to request.  However, we had a customer who was not aware of their Go Device not tracking for several weeks and therefore, no breadcrumb trail exists.  Luckily for this customer, the camera was recording and we were able to obtain the footage from the SD card but Geotab should make a feature in their add-in that someone can request raw files off of the SD card without the trips history bread crumb trail.

I had a customer where the driver removed the device on purpose to not be tracked, Is there a rule that looks at lets say no communication &gt; 1 hour it will flag an exception?

Hey Joy thanks for the reply. I did end up trying it on a ***** account and it did not work. Hopefully Geotab can make this adjustment as we have seen a uptick recently with monitoring DVIR's and companies losing alot on fines for not doing them.

I will definitely submit a feedback request. I dont see the point of the idle timeout period for the mygeotab portal. Its more useful in cases like drivers who have alot at stake with inspections, etc.

With how unreliable the Pre/Post trip Logic is, forcing the log out would probably fix it. I think Geotab should put this on a radar of things to look at.

Most of our customers have the vehicles sitting 8-10 hours over night. The one customer I have where this rule is not working well is an anomaly where the driver will start his day at 530 am, do a pre trip, drive to the location and then not drive the vehicle again until 6-7 at night.  I think I am in trial and error mode with this customer right now to find something that works.

I have set this customer at 14+ hours since they are pretty much in the same boat as yoru customer. They use the vehicle for up to 12 hours a day and really dont do any trips in between. Thanks for the response.  Also, is that Kirtland AFB in your backround? looks kinda like it. I was at Kirtland 08-10.
