Log Data & Collisions overview

The Log Data & Collisions page shows all data logged by GO devices for your assets.

The Log Data & Collisions page in MyGeotab provides a detailed view of various data points collected by the Geotab GO device. This includes information critical for identifying potential collisions and understanding other vehicle events.

Beyond collision-related data, the Log Data & Collisions report is useful for pulling a report showing a vehicle's speed by the minute, among other detailed data points.

Log Data & Collisions table data

The following data is displayed in the Log Data & Collisions table:

Data typeDefinition
Logged on

The date and time the log was created.

Record value

Absolute value of the record that was logged.

GPS Coordinates

The asset’s GPS coordinates when the log was created.

Record type

The record that was logged. For example: GPS, engine status, debug, MIME, or others.

Reason for the record

Each record type can be logged for various use cases. This field highlights why a particular record was logged.

String representation of binary data

The string representation of the data was that logged. Available for MIME record type only.

Viewing logged data and collisions

Learn how to view the Log Data & Collisions report in MyGeotab.

  1. Navigate to Safety > Log Data & Collisions in the main menu.
  2. Under Filters:
    1. Select a date range for your data.
    2. Select whether you want to include archived data.
    3. Select the assets you want to include in the report.
    4. Click Apply.
  3. Sort your results using the Sort by dropdown menu.
You can show the trip history for a record by clicking the Show on map icon at the far right of the table.
