For a description of each option, see Assessment preference options.
Assessment preference options
Review how the EV fit, EV premium, and en-route charging options change which EVs the EVSA recommends.
EV fit preference
With the Prioritize BEV over PHEV option, the EVSA recommends a battery electric vehicle (BEV) over a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) when both options result in positive lifetime cost savings. The EVSA does this even if the BEV has lower lifetime cost savings than the PHEV.
EV premium
EV premium is the additional lifetime amount that you're willing to spend for an EV compared with a new equivalent non-electric vehicle. If lifetime savings aren't a primary factor in your decision, you can tell the EVSA to recommend EVs even when the EV lifetime cost savings are negative compared with a new equivalent non-electric vehicle.
For example, if the lifetime cost of an EV is $4,000 more than a new equivalent non-electric vehicle, the EV isn't recommended by default. If you enter an EV premium of $4,000 or more, the EV is recommended for that vehicle.
En-route charging
By default, the EVSA doesn't recommend vehicles that can't complete their longest daily route on a single full battery charge. The En-route charging option lets you specify the number of days per month when it's acceptable for a vehicle to stop and recharge during operating hours.
For example, a vehicle in the Fleet vehicles without EV fit table has positive EV lifetime savings and an en-route charging count of 3. This means that no EV was recommended for that vehicle because the EV is projected to need an en-route charge on three days in a calendar month.
