MyGeotab Model Context

The MyGeotab Model Context Protocol (MCP) server is an early access pilot program that lets AI assistants query and manage your fleet data using natural language.

The MyGeotab Model Context Protocol (MCP) server enables AI assistants, such as Claude, to directly interact with your MyGeotab fleet management database using natural language. Instead of navigating menus or writing API code, you can simply ask questions and give instructions in plain English.

With MyGeotab MCP, you can:

  • Query live and historical fleet data (vehicles, drivers, trips, faults, zones, and more)

  • Perform fleet management actions (create entities, update records, remove items)

  • Run compliance checks (HOS rule sets, emission deadlines, fault management)

  • Decode VINs and retrieve road speed data

  • Ask natural language questions powered by Geotab Ace AI

Overview of Model Context Protocol

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that gives AI assistants a secure, structured way to retrieve data and take actions across connected business system without custom integrations or manual data exports.

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard developed by Anthropic that enables AI assistants to securely connect to external data sources and tools. Think of it as a universal connector that lets an AI model speak directly to your business systems.

In the context of MyGeotab:

  • Your AI assistant (for example, Claude) acts as the intelligent front-end.

  • The MyGeotab MCP server acts as the secure bridge to your fleet database.

  • Your MyGeotab account remains the authoritative source of truth.

This means you can have natural conversations about your fleet data with no SQL, no API code, and no manual report exports required.
