GO9 water intrusion fault

Learn what a water intrusion fault means for a GO9 device and how to respond.

The GO9 series has an internal moisture sensor that detects water intrusion inside the device. When it detects moisture, it triggers a telematics device fault. Water inside the device can cause electrical issues and affect how it works.

Water intrusion warnings

One or both of these faults may be reported, depending on where moisture is detected internally:

  • Fault: Water intrusion to ground warning

  • Fault: Water intrusion to power warning

Check the device immediately when a water intrusion fault is reported. Follow Responding to a GO9 water intrusion fault.

Replacement and warranty

Devices with physical damage, including water intrusion, are typically not covered under warranty and may not be eligible for free replacement.

Responding to a GO9 water intrusion fault

Check the fault, inspect the GO9 device, remove it promptly, and contact the Partner.

Before you begin: The checks in MyGeotab require the necessary permissions. If access is limited, contact the Administrator or the authorized Partner that provided the device.

Use this procedure when a water intrusion fault is reported. Follow this fault-specific response before the general communication checks.

  1. View the device faults in MyGeotab and confirm the water intrusion warning or warnings.
  2. Carefully inspect the device and its installation location for signs of moisture, damage, or potential entry points for water.
  3. Safely remove the GO9 device from the vehicle as soon as possible.
  4. Contact the authorized Partner for further assistance.

Provide details about the fault and any observed physical conditions of the device or installation. The Partner will guide the next steps, which will likely involve replacing the device.

Next steps: If the checks do not resolve the issue, call Support at the number provided in MyGeotab under Support > Contact Information, or start a live chat.
