Connection status

A list of connection statuses in Geotab Drive and their meaning.

You can check your connection status at any time from the dashboard by tapping the rightmost icon at the top right of the screen:

If your connection status is all good, you'll see a Wi-Fi symbol. If there's a problem, you'll see a red warning symbol instead (shown above), which you can tap for more information. Here's a list of connection problems, with troubleshooting steps if available:

  • Telematics Cable alert: a cable has been unplugged, and neither Geotab Drive nor the telematics device are connected to a wireless network. To maintain HOS compliance, you should manually change your duty status, or reconnect the cable if possible.

  • Vehicle Disconnected: the telematics device in the vehicle is not connected to the Geotab Drive server. This can be caused by issues with the wireless network, or a loss of power from the device. Contact your admin.

  • Drive Disconnected: the mobile device is not connected to the Geotab Drive server. This can be caused by poor cell network coverage, or if the device is in airplane mode.
Note: You cannot log in or out if Drive Disconnected is active. For HOS drivers, your logs are still recorded, and will be automatically sent to the server once you regain a connection.
  • GPS Disconnected: the mobile device has a GPS communication issue. This can be caused by location, environment, or airplane mode being enabled. Geotab Drive uses GPS as a fallback for the lock screen.

  • Power Disconnected: your mobile device is not charging. This isn't a critical warning, but your device may run out of battery. Ensure your device is connected to a charger.
