ELD/HOS compliance
Explains how Geotab Drive is used for ELD/HOS compliance.
Geotab Drive is a certified tool for meeting Electronic Logging Device (ELD) requirements in North America. This article provides some information about what you need to use the app for compliance.
You must have enough blank records of duty status (RODS) papers in-cab to cover the current trip (in case there's a problem with the app, the telematics device, the vehicle, etc.) as per FMCSA 49 CFR § 395.22(i)
For drivers in the USA, you must have access to these documents in-cab during a roadside inspection (either printed out, or digital access) as per FMCSA 49 CFR §395.22 (h):
Guide to Data Transfer at Roadside Checks, which explains how to show your duty status logs to a compliance officer
Guide to Data Diagnostic and Malfunction Events, which explains the meaning of any error codes you might see while using the app and provides some troubleshooting steps
Useful references (not required for compliance):
Guide to Hours of Service, which covers some basic HOS workflows like clocking in/out, adding a co-driver, and using the duty status graph
Guide to Asset Inspection, which covers the DVIR workflow
