About
We introduced WhatsApp as a new notification channel for exception rules in MyGeotab®, giving fleet managers in EMEA and LATAM a faster path to act on safety events. When an exception fires — speeding, harsh braking, zone entry or exit, and other configured conditions — administrators can now notify recipients directly on WhatsApp in addition to email or SMS.
Fleet managers, safety officers, and field supervisors in EMEA and LATAM often operate away from their desks, managing operations entirely from their phones. Email-based notifications work when someone is already at a screen, but create a delay between when an exception fires and when someone acts on it. WhatsApp meets teams where they already communicate, it is always open and always surfacing messages in real time, closing the gap between an exception event and a corrective response.
WhatsApp notifications are available to opted-in users in EMEA and LATAM. Only users who have explicitly opted in by registering their WhatsApp phone number can be added as recipients on exception rules. Users can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message.
