Hi Eishi! Thanks for sharing these details. A question came up for me after the session regarding the scope of the backup power: will it only be used to attempt to send a disconnection message, or will it allow the GO10 to remain active for some time? And if it is the latter, do you have an approximate idea of how long it might last? Thanks again for sharing the updates from the session with us! :)

The Road Ahead: Video Coaching, Next Gen GO and Marketplace in MyGeotab

Hi Geotab Community! We recently wrapped up our June 2026 edition of the Geotab Community product update webinar series The Road Ahead. Be sure to: 🎥 Visit the Geotab Community Events Page to watch the recording 💬 Read through all of the answers to the questions we were not able to cover live listed below 🙋 Ask any additional questions you might have by commenting on this discussion💬 Q&A Recap📷 MyGeotab Safety and Video Software UpdatesQ: Does the Pro capture events when the engine is off? Like if someone crashed into my car while it was parked and the engine was off?A: This will be available later in the year. For engine-off detection, an optional battery pack is recommended. More commercial details are coming soon.Q: Would the external battery mentioned in the "'Security' Mode" line allow us to access video footage when a vehicle kill switch is employed?A: Yes, as long as the battery is on, it will continue to operate.Q: Is there a plan to phase out the standard GO Focus?A: Not at this time.Q: With the new collision event update, will we be able to reprocess to try and capture possible missed collisions in previous months?A: Unfortunately, it is only a forward change; we cannot reprocess at this time.Q: For the continuous driver, if a driver changes mid-trip and their profile is in the system, will the trips history also update with the new driver or is it just an event?A: If you have Smart Driver ID enabled, yes!Q: Does the safety overview take into account custom rules turned on or is it all AI-based everyday driving and g-force? Do the scores take into account similar fleets or just my fleet?A: So that we can continue to provide inter- and intra-fleet benchmarks, the main view will be of the standard rules, but there will be a Tile for your individual scorecards.Q: How long is the investigation platform saved in the database? Does the data purge when in line with the purge settings? Can this data be extracted and saved in a report?A: "Data related to investigations follows the existing purge settings configured for the MyG database instance and will be automatically removed based on those retention rules.Export to PDF is currently in development, with no official confirmed release date, but it is tracking for the Fall 2026 release season."🛠️ Productivity SolutionsQ: Service Titan integration available?A: Service Titan does integrate with MyGeotab. It is not directly connected to advanced routing at this time but anything is possible to integrate!Q: Right now the process of adding the routing app is slow, is there any way to speed it up?A: We haven't seen this as a common issue, as the routing app download is typically a one-time setup step. It may be worth reaching out to our Optimization Support team at optimizationsupport@geotab.com so they can review your environment and help identify what might be causing the delay.Q: For advanced routing it is billed by device—is that active devices that used the routing each month or all devices in the database?A: Advanced Routing is billed per device enrolled in routing (licensed devices), not all devices in the database. For example, if you allocate 10 of your 100 devices to routing, you are billed for 10 devices and can use routing for those 10 vehicles.📡 The Next-Gen in Asset TrackingQ: How does the high frequency activate when on the movement mode?A: High Frequency Mode/Update (HFU) is initiated after the MyG command is issued upon the next device update. A GO Anywhere Plus (GA+) in Movement: Delayed mode will receive the HFU command at midnight of the day the HFU is activated.A GA+ in Movement: Immediate Mode will receive the HFU command when it detects a valid Trip Start and report every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes.GO Anywhere Next Gen does not have a movement mode—in HFU, it will simply update every 15 minutes (stationary or moving).

The Road Ahead: GO Focus Pro, Ace, Trips, Work Orders, Utilization & Compliance Enhancements

Hi Geotab Community! We recently wrapped up our July edition of the Geotab Community product update webinar series The Road Ahead. Be sure to:🎥 Visit the Geotab Community Events Page to watch the recording💬 Read through all of the answers to the questions we were not able to cover live listed belowGo Focus PlusCan these cameras be used with vehicles that do not have a go device in it (OEM)? Yes, the GO Focus Plus can be used with OEM Telematics, utilizing one of the two OEM cable configurations (3 Wire or OBD II)Would you need both an inward facing and external facing camera to receive all benefits mentioned? The majority of the features covered on the webinar were in relation to the GO Focus Plus that has both a Road Facing and In-Cabin Camera, but soon we will be releasing a Road Facing Only Version of the GO Focus Plus that will have some additional capabilities over our standard Road Facing only GO Focus dashcam. Stay tuned for availabilityWhen are AUX cameras set to be released? We hope to release the single Aux Cam for the GO Focus Plus before EOY, but full 360 Aux Cams will not be available until the Pro Launch closer to ConnectHow secure is the installation (theft proof) is it removable by driver while vehicle is in lot overnight for example? Generally once installed it will be very hard for the camera to be removed from the windshield and alerts are provided for any additional tampering that can be doneIs pedestrian detection on the ADAS roadmap? Pedestrian detection will be offered with the GO Focus ProCan the AI still identify distracted driving without recording the driver? Yes there are several options to achieve this, whether using "Lens as a Sensor" or customization of the rules to send verbal alerts but NO videoIs Facial AI is available on GoFocusPlus? Facial Recognition will be coming to GO Focus Plus before EOYIs "magnitude" available for the Go Focus safety sensor to be able to filter through all the tailgating uploads? While we hope to extend "magnitude" to GO Focus and other Dash Cam solutions today it is only available for the GO Focus PlusNew Harsh Events Does speeding still rely on the listed road speed in Geotab, which comes from Open Street Map? It is the same source of truth, however, we have a team that is continuing work on improving accuracy around speeding with these sources of truth. More to come on future road aheads. What about rate plans? Do you need a specific rate plan for this to work? With the new rules would we see going over a curb as an example? You shouldn't. That is the kind of noise these are very good at ruling out.Can the new rules be adjusted Example Speed over posted for 50 seconds can this be adjusted or is this static? The new speeding rule is static. You can still utilize the legacy speeding rule to make this change. The speeding rule is just a standardized rule. There are many reasons why a standardized rule was needed for customers. Please continue to use the legacy rules for specific speeding rules.

The Road Ahead: Go Focus Plus part 2, New Harsh events (October 2025)

Hi @****-6175 , great question thank you for asking it here in our community. I think I know what is going on here and why you see this difference. Risk Management (Idling Violations report) captures all idling time for a vehicle. Any period where the engine is running and the vehicle is stationary for more than 200 seconds is counted. It sums up every idling period across all trips within your selected date range. This gives you the total picture of how much time the engine was running with the vehicle stopped. Exceptions (Idling rule) works differently — it only records an event when the idling duration crosses the specific minimum threshold set in your exception rule (for example, idling for more than 5 minutes). Only those qualifying events are counted, and their individual durations are what you see in the report. Any idle periods shorter than your rule's trigger threshold are not captured at all in exceptions. This is why Risk Management shows a higher number — it catches everything above 200 seconds, while exceptions only captures what your rule was configured to flag. There is also a trip attribution detail worth knowing: idling that occurs before a trip begins is attributed to the previous trip in MyGeotab. Depending on your date range, this can cause small differences between reports that calculate time differently. For more detail on how idling time is calculated, the Idling time documentation (https://support.geotab.com/help/mygeotab/reports/safety-reports/idling-time) is a great reference. What is the difference between idling time (risk management) and idling time (exceptions)?

Hi Geotab Community! We recently wrapped up our September 2026 edition of the Geotab Community product update webinar series The Road Ahead. Be sure to: 🎥 Watch the recording if you were not able to be with us live 💬 Read through all of the answers to the questions we were not able to cover live listed below 🙋 Ask any additional questions you might have by commenting on this discussion 💬 Q&A Recap 🎥 Video Coaching Q: How do the video coaching zones work? Is it through the use of exception rules? A: You can use certain exception rules to turn on or off in your specified zones. "if the driver speeds in this zone turn camera on/off" for example. Q: When using video coaching with Surfsight, how will drivers get the coaching? Through the Geotab Video App? A: Yes, through the Geotab Video App 📡 Next Gen GO (GO 10) Q: Will the GO 10 need an adapter for the GO Focus Plus, or will it plug directly into the device? A: It should plug in via IOX port. Q: Is the GO 10 approved for CARB compliance to use RP1226? A: GO10 has the Aftermarks EO and is licensed for vehicles operating in and entering California. However, the GO Device is pending CARB CTC EO which is expected early next year. Q: Is the Next Gen GO device for Surfsight cameras? A: Yes, via IOX port. Q: Are Geotab-compatible BLE beacons limited to a Geotab-specific beacon format or certified beacon list, or can we tell the GO 10 to track our own tags? For example, can we register our own identifiers such as an iBeacon UUID, a manufacturer ID plus data prefix, or a list of MAC addresses? A: BLE tags must advertise using Geotab's Connectionless Bluetooth Advertisement Protocol in order to be eligible as a Small Asset Tracking compatible device Q: Will the Next Gen GO be able to differentiate between the device losing signal and losing power? A: On the device itself if you lose power, the lights will flash until there is energy reserve and then turn off completely. If it loses signal, the light flashes orange until signal is restored. Q: What is the release/availability date and cost compared to the GO9? Are the GO9 and other units becoming obsolete or unavailable? A: Next Gen GO (GO10) is currently available for purchase in North America - US& CA and Japan. Release in other regions and countries is scheduled for Q4 2026 / Q1 2027. GO9B will continue to be available for government/high-security deployments (FIPS 140-3, legacy protocols) etc. For pricing, speak with your partner or partner account manager. Q: What about the satellite option? I didn't hear anything about this — is it still happening? A: This device is not the one previously mentioned to have potential built in satellite capabilities Q: Will this replace the current GO device in Canada? A: Yes, for standard commercial fleets. GO9B will continue to be available for government/high-security deployments (FIPS 140-3, legacy protocols) etc. Q: How involved is the install, since it uses a "custom" harness? A: While not as plug and play as the GO9B, the install with the harness is straightforward when following the steps. Here are references to the installation video and quick start guide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xwp7mSCtRfE https://support.geotab.com/go-devices/go10/doc/go10-qsg Q: Will the Next Gen GO device allow you to connect it to a Starlink device when the truck is traveling in dead zones? A: No this device will not have that option 🛒 Marketplace in MyGeotab Q: Do those without account administrator privileges have access to information or demos for some of these products, so we can suggest products that might help us with our tasks? A: Yes, if the user has the clearances to view Marketplace they could see the listings. Demos can be arranged by contacting Geotab or a customer's reseller. In future we are going to be exploring how we can enable customers to demo and trial software in Marketplace. There is also a toggle to allow them to make purchases or not.

Can I get Push Notifications via the My Geotab Mobile App?

@unknown user is correct they come in two separate files. In the future we plan to implement a way to choose if you want them seperated or not. I do not have a timeline on when this will happen though. Thanks for tagging me in @unknown user !!

Why do Go Focus video download with the audio separate?

Hi @CesarOrtiz-1781 , great question! The notification timing depends on the rule condition. Not every exception condition is instantaneous. Entering Area "ZONE" is an instantaneous condition. A notification should be generated once the relevant GPS data is received and processed by the rules engine. Some delay may still occur because of device transmission, server processing, and notification delivery. Inside Area "ZONE" represents a continuing state. The exception remains active while the vehicle is inside the zone, so the notification may be sent only after the exception ends. Stopped inside zone also requires the system to establish that the vehicle has stopped. This normally means no movement for approximately 200 seconds, or the ignition being turned off. For security use cases, such as detecting a vehicle entering a dangerous area, Entering Area is generally the more appropriate condition than Inside Area. I would also recommend validating the end-to-end timing with a controlled test using the device timestamp, exception timestamp, and notification delivery timestamp. You can find more information about the available zone conditions here: https://support.geotab.com/help/mygeotab/groups-and-rules/rules/rule-conditions Hope that helps! Extendable services for GO Focus Plus

Hey @patrickbarneaux Thank you for asking this question. Glad you came to our community. I would approach this in three parts: Speeding and idling Start with the fleet policy you want to enforce, then use a duration to avoid reacting to very brief events. For example, a speeding rule might require the vehicle to exceed the limit by a defined amount for a minimum number of seconds. Idling can be handled similarly. It can also help to create graduated rules, such as 5, 10, and 20 minutes of idling, but only send notifications for the higher-severity events. The lower-severity rules can remain available for reporting and trend analysis. Harsh braking and acceleration These rules are more dependent on vehicle type, road conditions, and driving context. The older sensor-based rules can produce more false positives, especially when applied to a mixed fleet. Where available, I recommend starting with the newer GPS-based harsh event rules. These use different thresholds based on vehicle class and are designed to reduce noise from events such as road conditions. If you still see unexpected results, review the vehicle classification, GPS data quality, and the surrounding driving context. Camera footage can also be useful when you need to understand why a specific event occurred. Notification strategy It is often better to separate rule detection from notification. First configure the rule and review the resulting events using alerts such as Log only or through reporting. Once you understand the event volume and confirm that the rule is useful, add email, popup, or driver notifications for the events that require action. The Collision Risk reports can also provide useful context by benchmarking driving risk against similar vehicles and operating conditions. This is complementary to exception rules, since it helps identify broader patterns rather than only individual events. The goal is not necessarily to eliminate all exceptions. It is to make sure the exceptions generated are meaningful, aligned with your safety policy, and actionable for the people receiving them. I hope that helps! Eishi FUN

How do you reduce false positives when creating custom rules in MyGeotab?

Hi @****-6175 , thanks for the question. I couldn't find a published customer setting that makes a GO Focus Plus recording continue until the full duration of a reverse-rule event. From what you're seeing, the clip appears to use a set capture window rather than extending automatically with the event. If you need a longer clip, please open a Support request with the camera model, the rule configuration, an example event time, and the before/after recording duration you need. The team can confirm what's supported for that camera and setup. It is possible we can extend the duration but I cant make any promises. I don't have a confirmed release date for longer recordings but it is something being looked at by our team. Hope that helps! Eishi FUN

A couple of things are worth checking: - Surfsight's guidance says audio playback for AI-12 recordings is supported on firmware 3.12 or later. If you don't hear audio in the cloud player, download a recording and check the downloaded file. - Make sure you're reviewing a video from the front or in-cab camera, rather than a snapshot event or an auxiliary camera; those won't contain audio. - In the Surfsight add-in, check Vehicles → camera Settings → Record Audio in Front and Cabin for each affected dashcam. The public guidance I found doesn't clearly specify whether live streams include audio for every model and firmware. Could you share the camera model and firmware version, and whether a downloaded recording has audio? Please don't post camera serial numbers publicly. Have a good one! Sorry about that. For API testing, you can create a demo database through MyGeotab registration (https://my.geotab.com/registration.html). Choose the Create a Demo Database option and follow the prompts. It includes simulated vehicle data for testing; you can select an expiry date of up to 60 days. You'll then use that database and an API user to connect. The SDK Getting Started guide (https://developers.geotab.com/myGeotab/guides/gettingStarted/) has more information on preparing a test environment. One note: the demo data is simulated, so it won't provide live locations from a moving vehicle. If you need to test against live location updates, you'll need a device in a test database.
