Two Geotab GO devices are not registering in the myGeotab Assets portal.

Hey Geotab and Community,

 

I have 2 Geotab go devices each installed into different Class 8 vehicles. The power, connectivity and GPS signals all seem correct (per the documentation).

 

The Geotabs have been installed in the vehicles for more than a week and the vehicles have been active.

 

I have yet to see the Geotab devices report into the Geotab Assets portal.

 

Any ideas?

I wonder if you've added the devices into your database in the MyGeotab software.

 

Here's a short video that goes through the basics:

Adding Single Assets in MyGeotab

 

(The video is a smidge outdated, but it should point you in the right direction just fine.)

I've also found a reference with the steps to follow for installing the GO device. I hope it can complement the information already provided. We look forward to your feedback on your results.

Hey Joy and Cristian,

 

Thanks for the fast replies. Testing adding the device manually.

 

I wasn't sure which the Geotab system preferred, a manual setup or some automatic mechanism (as many of our devices have automatically populated into our Assets database). I also wasn't sure if the Geotab Internal ID would change from a manual installation to when a vehicle begins reporting (with its VIN).

 

I've added the devices and will update this thread with the results.

Hey Joy and Cristian,

 

Manually adding the devices into the Geotab platform did the trick. I can now see the Vehicle telemetry reporting in.

 

I am not sure why some devices seem to automatically appear in the Geotab portal and some require the manual addition, but this did work.

Glad this worked for you.

 

The requirement for manual addition this time is likely due to how your Geotab reseller handles adding devices. Some resellers will add those devices in for their customers ahead of time (and it sounds like yours likely does this most of the time), but if your reseller overlooked this step for these devices, that is a likely reason why you had to add them in yourself.
