Do I have to add 2 DutyStatusLogs - one for Device and another for Device (which is a trailer) and the timestamp matches the TrailerAttachment?

Hello @DFenn-1143 ,

Thank you for asking your question in our community. In the Geotab drive app there is a section to assign a trailer to yourself. While the trailer is assigned you will see it come up on the HOS logs for that time period. When you switch it in Geotab Drive it also switches on the HOS logs. Here are a couple resources on how to assign the trailer in Geotab Drive:

Geotab Academy: Logging in/out and basic navigation in the Drive App

Knowledge base: Selecting and removing vehicles and trailers

Let us know if you have any other questions. We are happy to help.

Have a great day!

I don't believe that DutyStatusLogs are directly associated to Trailers. In a way, they're only indirectly related to even non-trailer Devices. They're primarily tied to Drivers/Users; you can have a DutyStatusLog with "NoDevice", but a DutyStatusLog has no meaning (and I believe doesn't exist) without a Driver.

Trailers are attached to Devices via TrailerAttachment, or more recently DeviceLink. Their association to a given DutyStatusLog would be inferred by finding a TrailerAttachment or DeviceLink that has an active period during which that log was created.

@DarenPorter-1148 When I try to get the TmpTrailerId from a Device (with TrailerGroup), i.e Trailer Device, its returning null.
Is there another way to get Trailer ID because I need it to create a TrailerAttachment?

Or can you associate the Trailer to a DutyStatusLog by creating a DriverChange against a Trailer Device. By doing so, will that automatically associate to the DutyStatusLog and list the Trailer in the print out in the portal?

@DFenn-1143 Geotab has been recommending to migrate away from using Trailers and TrailerAttachment in favor of Devices and DeviceLink. Give that a shot and see if it does what you need:
