Hey Everybody, I'm trying to help an integrator out on this, and they seem to think that you can't pull exceptions from custom-built rules via the MyGeotab APIs. I haven't really worked with this part of the SDK much at all, so was hoping someone who uses this more could chime in on whether that is actually the case, or if we're just missing something here. My guess is that it should be possible to pull these exceptions via the rule's unique ID. Thanks in advance for your help! :) Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

Can you pull exceptions for custom-built rules via the MyGeotab SDK?

Hey, Everybody! These are kind of basic questions, but I'm looking for some fairly technical answers that I haven't been able to find via the Knowledge Base or other online resources. What I'm specifically looking for here are two different things: 1) How does Geotab calculate distance for IFTA and HOS?I believe these are both calculated based off of engine measurements by default; what I'm looking for are specifics on how Geotab gathers this engine data. 2) How does Geotab calculate distances on the Map?My understanding is that this is gathered by GPS, which can differ from the engine measurements that we get for IFTA and HOS. What I'm looking for here is info on how Geotab calculates these distances based off of the GPS. Not sure if I'm just missing where these articles are, or if this is info I've gotten over years of Support tickets, so any "official" documentation people can provide here would be of great help. Thanks in advance! :) Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

How does Geotab calculate distance in various sections of MyGeotab?

Hey, Everybody! I'm working on building new logos for a couple of custom add-ins for when MyGeotab officially switches over to the new UI. I'm familiar with this document:New Designs Specifications for MyGeotab Add-In Icons I'm pretty decent with Photoshop and I have Adobe Illustrator for this project (although I'm a little bit of a n00b with the latter); I'm just not really sure how to get it so that my designs match the specs required here. When I try to design at only 24 pixels, everything is fuzzy, even when I have it so that my design is snap-to-grid. So, anyway, I think I'm missing something here. Admittedly, I'm quite a bit of a newbie when it comes to logo-design stuff. Has anyone already built one of these? If so, would you be able/willing to share how to take an existing .ai file and make it match the required specs? Alternatively, just knowing the general formatting anyone else has used would certainly help me out a lot here. Thanks in advance for your help! :) Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

Has anyone built a new logo for an add-in for the new MyGeotab UI?

Hey, Everybody! I've noticed recently that the "ELD Settings Validator" on the Geotab Marketplace is listed as "Unsigned". I don't remember this being that way, so I'm wondering if something changed or if that was just something I missed. I'm also wondering why, if this comes directly from the Geotab Marketplace, this add-in is listed as "Unsigned". Thanks in advance for your help! :) Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

Why is the "ELD Settings Validator" add-in unsigned when it's from the Geotab Marketplace?

Hey Guys, I'm looking for some info on the new Bulk Edit add-in from Geotab. I think this is a question for @Kaylan-1068 or @mauriciomuniz-1734, but wanted to put it up here on the Community in case anyone else can benefit from the answer in the future. I have been using this new add-in and there are a couple of labels that I would like to understand specifically. Could someone please explain what these mean? Also, I'm specifically looking to understand what the difference is between "Duplicate Data" and "Edits for assets with duplicate name..." "Edits for assets with duplicate names are not allowed. If editing devices   please use serial number instead." "Duplicate Data" "The given key '1000000' was not present in the dictionary." Thanks very much in advance for your help. :) Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

What do the terms in the new "Bulk Edit" add-in mean?

Hey Guys, Just wondering if there has been any additional information put out about the IOX-BATT that we heard about at Connect last January. Does Geotab have any papers on it yet? Thanks in advance for your help! :) Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

Info on IOX-BATT?

Hey Everybody, I have a customer with drivers who often mistype the gallons or cost when they input their fuel data. This customer needs to ensure that these logs are accurate, so they would like the ability to edit these incorrect logs. I know that Geotab is working on an admin-side edit feature in MyGeotab, but there currently isn't a release date for this. What I'm actually wondering is if--in the mean time--is there a piece of code that maybe Geotab can provide that would allow non-techy people to run a search via the API Runner to pull up a fuel log and edit outside of the UI. I'm thinking that if a user could search a fill-up by the transaction ID and then just input what the gallons and cost should have been, that would at least be an acceptable work-around for the time being. If you've ever dealt with this, or know of a way to get around this for now, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks in advance for your help! :) Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

Looking for MyGeotab API call to pull fuel log by ID and then manually update gallon or cost errors input by drivers.

Hi Everybody, I have a customer wanting to pull data from the MyGeotab APIs. They're not looking to manipulate any data in MyGeotab, only to pull it into another application. What I'm wanting to know is: If I give the developer account they'll be using to pull the APIs a View only clearance, will that restrict them totally from being able to accidentally mess up anything in the actual MyGeotab database? Thanks for your help with this! :) Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

If I put a user in a "View Only" clearance to make API calls is there any chance of messing up the data in MyGeotab?

Hey Everybody, I called Geotab Support with a question on odometer values yesterday. I have a customer that is getting the wrong values, and this may be due to a harness issue (we're looking into it). What I'm more curious to understand is about the two different ECMs that can be in engines with two data ports; specifically why would the second ECM would report an odometer value at all, especially if that value is incorrect? The support agent I spoke with yesterday mentioned that they get secondary odometer values sometimes when a GO unit has the wrong harness, and I can't for the life of me think of why there would be a secondary odometer value--especially if it's different from the primary one. If anyone here know about this and can help me to understand why this exists and what its purpose is, I'd certainly appreciate it. Thanks! :) Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

Why would an engine have two different odometer values on its different ECMs?

I mean, aside from the fact that they're beta than no APIs at all... But, bad puns aside, I'm actually wondering if someone at Geotab (@Kari-1055?) can comment on this because I have a customer asking and I'd like to get an official answer. Of course, I'd be interested to get anyone else's feedback, too. Thought it'd be beta to post here so that everybody can learn from it, anyway. Thanks in advance for the help! :) Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

What is the difference between a regular API and one that's marked as "BETA"?

Hey Everybody, I've been looking into the split SB rules, but I haven't really tried them out myself. Does the Geotab Drive app account for split SB? If so, how does that work? I found a few short articles about how split SB works in general in the Geotab Knowledgebase here, but I didn't see any about how Geotab Drive works with this (if it does at all). Thanks in advance for the help! :) Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

Does Geotab manage split SB time?

Hey All, I'm hoping someone (@LPPapillon-1145?) might be able to help me out here. I am trying to use the bulk importer for zones from the MyGeotab SDK here:https://geotab.github.io/sdk/software/js-samples/importZones.html I have tried to enter a few different sample zones, including just copying and pasting the example they provide in the "Help" segment here. Nothing I try is working. 😬 Does anyone know the exact format needed to get this to work? Thanks very much! 😊 Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

Looking for Help with Format for "Import Zones" JS Example in MyGeotab SDK

With the 2001 update, it looks like Geotab set all of the local "Maximum personal conveyance distance per day" fields for each driver to 0.0 (unlimited) instead of whatever may have already been specified in the System Settings. What I am wondering is if this new field is available in the API Runner so that I could quickly update these values for several hundred drivers in one database, rather than having to go in and update each of these manually. 🤦‍♀️ Does anybody know if this is possible? Thanks very much. Best,Joy @FleetNavSystems-1081

Is "Maximum personal conveyance distance per day" for individual users available through the API runner in the Geotab SDK?

This is fantastic information, <a href="/user/tucker-peebles-1087" data-id="1087" data-value="TuckerBA-1087" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@TuckerBA-1087</a>--thanks for sharing! :)

How to pull a report of all security clearances (included ones added).

Hey, <a href="/user/jim-r-1398" data-id="1398" data-value="JR-1398" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@JR-1398</a>! I am not aware of any way to do this within MyGeotab, and I am not even sure if it would be possible to do it through the APIs in the <a href="https://geotab.github.io/sdk/" target="_blank">MyGeotab SDK</a>. That being what it is, I would recommend creating this manually, as I think it will end up being the quickest way to get the information you need all in one place. I know that's probably not the answer you were looking for, but I hope this helps at least point you in the right direction! :) Best,Joy <a href="/user/jake-jorns-1081" data-id="1081" data-value="FleetNavSystems-1081" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@FleetNavSystems-1081</a>

Hey, <a href="/user/arnar-jonsson-1532" data-id="1532" data-value="AArna-1532" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@AArna-1532</a>! If you require more than 3 employees in a vehicle, I'd recommend asking your reseller to see if they can find a better solution than the co-drivers one. Also, if you decide to use the co-drivers feature but are not using ELD/Hours of Service, you will want to make sure you turn off the "HOS" feature on the vehicles under Vehicles &amp; Assets &gt; [vehicle you need to edit] &gt; Settings &gt; Advanced and change "Hours of Service (HOS)" to "Off": <img src="/forum/plugins/gcs-uploads/files/0692J00000Lcz52QAB.png" alt="advanced-hos-settings" /> (And then click Save to make sure those changes go through.) Anyway, hope this helps. Best,Joy <a href="/user/jake-jorns-1081" data-id="1081" data-value="FleetNavSystems-1081" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@FleetNavSystems-1081</a>

How to assign 3 employees/drivers in 1 vehicle each morning (variations which employee is in which car)

Hey, <a href="/user/arnar-jonsson-1532" data-id="1532" data-value="AArna-1532" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@AArna-1532</a>! You can do this via the Geotab Drive app using the co-drivers functionality. Here's a quick video on co-drivers:<a href="https://youtu.be/ZpPd9mG5KxM" target="_blank">Co-Drivers in Geotab Drive</a> From when the second driver is logged in, the third would just use this "+" button to also log in: <img src="/forum/plugins/gcs-uploads/files/0692J00000Lclt3QAB.png" alt="add-third-codriver" /> You can have a maximum of three co-drivers, so one would have to log out if you need to change up which three are logged in: <img src="/forum/plugins/gcs-uploads/files/0692J00000LclthQAB.png" alt="log-out-third-codriver" /> That should do it for you. Hope this helps. :) Best,Joy <a href="/user/jake-jorns-1081" data-id="1081" data-value="FleetNavSystems-1081" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@FleetNavSystems-1081</a>

Hey, <a href="/user/leeanna-lopez-1458" data-id="1458" data-value="LLope-1458" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@LLope-1458</a>! You'd need to change the user clearance for your employees that need these permissions. You can change the user clearance of an employee by going to Administration &gt; Users &gt; [user to edit] and then scrolling down to the Security Clearance section of the page. From there, you just need to select a new clearance and save your changes. If your employees need a custom clearance, you may find this short tutorial handy:<a href="https://youtu.be/NlyHofT-zbI" target="_blank">User Clearances in MyGeotab</a> Hope this helps! :) Best,Joy <a href="/user/jake-jorns-1081" data-id="1081" data-value="FleetNavSystems-1081" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@FleetNavSystems-1081</a>

How do I give permissions/access to other employees for tracking purposes?

Hey, <a href="/user/craig-shank-1639" data-id="1639" data-value="CShan-1639" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@CShan-1639</a>! This could happen for a number of reasons. Here are some common ones I can think of off the top of my head: <ul><li>The GO device is new and still getting configured; you might hear occasional beeps as it is adjusting for the first time.</li><li>Your admin has a login rule set so that you get beeps until you use an NFC reader or Geotab Drive to log in.</li><li>Your admin has some other rule set up to beep based on some metric, such as seatbelt.</li></ul> Here are the default items that your fleet manager may put on your truck:<img src="/forum/plugins/gcs-uploads/files/0692J00000KejrFQAR.png" alt="audio-feedback" /> Although those are the defaults, there are other ways to make just about anything cause the vehicle to beep. Since this is the case, it may help to identify the type of beeping. Is it:<ul><li>continuous?</li><li>six quick beeps when you start driving?</li><li>ten quick beeps?</li><li>occasional single or couple of beeps every few minutes?</li></ul> If you're a Fleet Nav customer, you or your admin can reach out to us and we can get to the bottom of this by looking in your database; if you're not a Fleet Nav customer, I'd recommend reaching out to Geotab Support or your reseller (whichever is your usual method of getting support) and having them do a more in-depth investigation into your specific case. At any rate, I hope this at least helps point you in the right direction. :) Best,Joy <a href="/user/jake-jorns-1081" data-id="1081" data-value="FleetNavSystems-1081" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@FleetNavSystems-1081</a>
