⚠️ Transition Away from Legacy EV Data Endpoints In the early days of fleet electrification, we developed three original API endpoints to provide trailblazing companies access to Geotab-calculated EV insights. We now have better data objects that deliver the same insights in a more accurate and scalable way. These legacy endpoints are no longer officially supported. We strongly encourage our partners to transition to the new data objects by early 2026 to ensure seamless operation and avoid disruptions. Legacy Endpoint Deprecation Schedule The following legacy endpoints will be deprecated and should be replaced by the suggested data objects:

GetBatteryStateOfHealth

Deprecation Target: September 26, 2026

Suggested Replacement: BatteryStateOfHealth

GetRangeCapability

Deprecation Target: September 26, 2026

Suggested Replacement: RangeEstimate

GetRealTimeRange

Deprecation Target: September 26, 2026

Suggested Replacement: EVStatusInfo

✨ What's Better About the New Data Objects? The new data objects are superior to the legacy endpoints they replace, offering significant advantages:

Better Performance: Get results up to 10x faster than legacy endpoints.

More Accurate Results: Our updated EV range model provides greater precision. The RangeEstimate object has confidence intervals to represent the level of certainty in the calculated EV range.

More Options for Requesting Results: The new data objects are compatible with the standard Get() method and DeviceSearch. This allows you to use Geotab-standard search criteria to return the specific results you need, for the devices you want.

More Useful Information: In addition to real-time range, EVStatusInfo now includes an estimate of the charge complete time, helping you predict when an EV will finish charging.

💡 Help Is Available Need assistance working with the Geotab API, including the latest EV data objects?

Everyone can post questions to the Integrator's Hub on Geotab community.

Fleet customers can send questions to their reseller partner.

Resellers and marketplace partners can send questions to their solutions engineering contact or partner account manager.

Useful Resources

Electric Vehicle Data Diagnostics and API User Guide

Developer site

EV Data Over API - Transition away from legacy endpoints DOC

📣EV Data API Legacy Endpoint Deprecation 📣 : September 26, 2026

Great question. This comes up a lot with EMS/ambulance fleets whose Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems expect AVL data in TAIP (Trimble ASCII Interface Protocol). The key thing to understand up front: Geotab GO devices do not natively output TAIP. The GO device talks to the Geotab cloud in Geotab's own protocol, so there is no TAIP stream coming off the device or directly out of MyGeotab. This is a middleware and translation integration, not a device setting. The proven pattern is to pull positions from the Geotab cloud, translate them to TAIP in a piece of middleware, and deliver them to the CAD. How to build it: 1. Pull positions with the Data Feed API. Use the GetFeed method against LogRecord (latitude, longitude, speed) and, if you need engine or status data, StatusData. Each call returns a FeedResult with a version token you resubmit on the next call so you only get new records. This gives you near real-time GPS, typically polled every few seconds. SDK sample here: https://geotab.github.io/sdk/software/js-samples/#data-feed 2. Translate to TAIP in your middleware. For each Geotab device, map it to a TAIP vehicle ID and emit TAIP PV (Position/Velocity) messages, for example >RPV...;ID=nnnn;*CC<, at the cadence and over the transport your CAD expects. 3. Deliver to the CAD over whatever transport it requires, such as a TCP server it connects to, or UDP. The real work is on the CAD side, not Geotab. "Accepts TAIP" is never the full spec. Before building, get these details from your CAD vendor, because they drive the whole design: - Which CAD product or vendor (CentralSquare/Superion, Tyler/New World, Hexagon/Intergraph, ESO, ZOLL RescueNet, and so on) - Transport and direction, meaning TCP vs UDP, who initiates the connection, and which port - The exact TAIP message set, whether PV only or also ID, status, and emergency indicators - Update frequency, since EMS often wants sub-5-second updates - Vehicle ID mapping, meaning how a Geotab device maps to the TAIP ID scheme the CAD uses One more tip: Confirm TAIP is actually mandatory. Many modern CAD systems also accept a simpler REST/JSON AVL feed. If yours does, you can skip TAIP entirely and save significant effort by pushing positions from the Data Feed straight into the CAD's REST endpoint.

How to set up API links for tacho analysis

@iinfo-5453 It sounds like you have run into the recent Geotab Central Identity and Access Management update. In mid-2025, Geotab changed how third-party integrations (like Convey) authenticate to improve security. The "traditional" way of creating a user with a manual password and sharing it is being phased out in favour of Service Accounts, these are for API use ONLY Please follow this guide to create a service account MyGeotab Service Account Guidelines

Vehicle Data using MyGeotab SDK API's - What would be the best API to get engine data from the trucks we install Geotab in?

Hi @INACTIVE - dispatch dispatch@wrds.com The simplest way it to look in the Audit logs, there is really no point in me giving you much more than this link as the article as it is very comprehensive: Kudos to Aarthi Ravikumarhttps://www.geotab.com/blog/audit-log-report/ The shortest answer is :Log into MyGeotab, click Administrator, System, Audit Log under Options, choose the date range and Audit types (in there type, what edit you are looking for in your case type HOS and a couple of options will populate) Choose what you what, click Apply changes:You can then download the report if you like. Happy Geotabbing!

How do I know if an authorized administrator edited a vehicle in MyGeotab or the driver?

Hi when looking for the description of a particular object in the MyGeotab environment always refer to the MyGeotab SDK. In the Reference page in the SDK, you will see many "Methods" you can use to retrieve and manipulate the data within MyGetoab some of the most common are "Add" "Get" ,"Set ", "Remove" "Authenticate" and many others. You can scroll through until you find what you are looking for. Lets say you are looking at making a "Get" : "Devices" call and you would like to know everything available to you. First you would go to the "Get" section then Entity ,Device, then lets choose the most current device the Go9 and finally you will see Properties. This will give you the Device's property name, the format of the property (Boolean, Array, number, string object etc.) and a description of said property:

MyGeotab SDK - API Result Descriptions?

@sheikhmb-1276 First thing is to familiarize yourself with the Geotab SDK, this will help you understand the inner workings of the APIs and concepts of MyGeotab required to build a functional Add-in,. Also we have this Youtube video on how to build a MyGeotab Add-in, we have some Sample Code in Github that will assist in building a Add-in.Lastly our Add-in generator also it Github. Happy coding.

How can I integrate my software as an add in Using Geotab SDK?

@JPurv-1275 Hi, We have a custom parameter that solves this "Pulsing" PTO is Engaged, essentially it will Delay the time period before the Go Device reports the PTO.This has solved the issue for many of the vehicles with this issue, custom parameter is : <Parameter Description='Use PTO Governor Hold And Standby As Active and Use J1708 Switch State As Active' Offset='36' Bytes='4' IsEnabled='true'/> If this does not work then an IOX-AUXM would be the best way to sense PTO, here is a Installation guide I created for installers needing to connect the IOX to the PTO.
