We run, seasonally a large rental fleet, plus on occasion, have to sell or auction a unit so we remove the GEOTAB devices and intend to re-use them.
We usually remove them on the settings page but have difficulty re-using that device for another unit. What are we doing wrong. Is there a process for when removing a device from a unit and then later on, installing it in a new vehicle?

If you're planning to reuse a Geotab device, the best approach is to archive the old vehicle it was assigned to. When you archive the vehicle, it also removes the GO device association from that unit. Once that's done, you can simply assign the same device to a new vehicle in the system without any issues.
If you're only removing it from the settings page, it may not fully clear the association, which is why you're running into problems when trying to reuse it.

Thank you for your response. I will choose archive going forward when removing devices from a unit. However, for the units that I removed through the settings page, how do I regain those devices?
Do you mean the devices that were archived, or the ones removed from the settings page?
If the device was archived, you can still bring it back:
When reactivating, you can assign Go device Serial number/ Ethier different serail number or the same one - (System will ask you Reactivate with or without entering a serial number).
If the device was fully deleted (not archived), then unfortunately it cannot be recovered.
Yes, the ones that were removed via the settings page. So these ones are junk now?
If you have already deleted them then it is gone!
