Keep Video Events as a Unified View for Multiple Camera Types

Hey @RyanT-8320 , Thank you for bringing this up in our community. I think this is a great idea! I would encourage you to give this feedback to the feedback form at the bottom of this page. Using this form it will go straight to our product team and assigned to the product manager over this area. This is great feedback and think it would be a very good one to add into our product design ideas. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. Have a good one! Eishi FUN

Automatically Assign Zone Colors Based on Zone Type

Current Experience
Recently, the Video Events page in MyGeotab has been displaying events from both GO Focus and Xirgo cameras together in a clean, consistent format. Both camera types are displayed within the same interface, including the visual detection boxes around vehicles and roadway/lane markings. From a user perspective, this creates a much more streamlined experience for reviewing video and safety events, regardless of which Geoatb-approved camera hardware is installed in the vehicle. Requested Enhancement My understanding is that the Video Events page is intended primarily for GO Focus and that support for other camera types may eventually be removed from this area. I would like to request that Geotab consider keeping Video Events as a unified location for supported camera integrations, rather than limiting the page exclusively to GO Focus. The way it currently displays GO Focus and Xirgo events together provides a clean, consistent experience and makes it much easier for fleets with multiple camera solutions deployed. Business Value Many fleets transition camera technology over time or may use different camera solutions across portions of their fleet. Having a single Video Events experience would:

Give users one location to review camera and safety events

Provide a consistent experience across different camera hardware

Reduce the need to navigate between different add-ins or interfaces

Make mixed-camera fleets easier to manage

Allow customers to transition camera technology without losing a centralized safety workflow

The current Video Events experience is a significant improvement in terms of usability. Rather than removing third-party camera events from this area, I would love to see Geotab continue to build on the unified experience already being provided.

Current Challenge The customer creates and manages a large number of zones in MyGeotab and uses specific colors to visually identify different types of zones. Currently, when a new zone is created, the color must be selected individually. The customer tries to maintain consistent colors for each zone type, but this is a manual process and can lead to inconsistencies, especially when multiple users create or manage zones. Requested Enhancement Provide the ability to associate a designated color with a specific Zone Type. For example:

Customer Location → Blue

Terminal/Yard → Green

Restricted Area → Red

Vendor Location → Yellow

Once a color has been assigned to a Zone Type, any new zone created with that type would automatically inherit the designated color. Ideally, the color could be configured at the Zone Type level, while still allowing a user to manually override the color for an individual zone if needed. Business Value This would allow fleets with a large number of zones to:

Maintain consistent zone visualization across MyGeotab

Reduce manual setup when creating new zones

Make different types of locations easier to identify on the map

Reduce inconsistencies when zones are created by multiple users

Create a more scalable way to organize and manage zones

Currently, it appears that zone colors must be selected individually for each zone, so there is no simple way for the customer to enforce a consistent color based on Zone Type.
