Hello.
As you noted, since the device isn't communicating, it cannot send logs. The best approach is to configure a rule; here is an example.

Is it possible to create a notification when a GO device loses communication?

Hi everyone,In Wialon, it is possible to convert a route directly into a geofence (zone), which is very useful because you don't have to recreate the entire area manually. Is there a similar feature available in MyGeotab? For example, if I already have a route, can I convert it into a zone/geofence automatically, or is the only option to create the zone manually by adding each point one by one?I'm looking for the most efficient way to create a geofence that follows an existing route. Thanks in advance!

What specific security clearance or user permission is required for a user to access the IOX Output Add-In and successfully enable/use the “Send” button? The user already has access to the Add-In and can open it, but the “Send” button remains disabled. The user is assigned to only one group for testing purposes.Has anyone configured this successfully without granting full Administrator access?

Which permission or function access needs to be granted for a user to access the IOX Output Add-In and successfully use the “Send” button?

Hi everyone,Is there a rule or exception in Geotab that can alert me when the fuel level drops abruptly by 1% while the vehicle is stopped?I'm trying to detect possible fuel theft or unusual fuel loss events while the unit is stationary. Any recommendations or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Tracking sudden fuel loss in Mygeotab

Hi everyone,Geotab supports both manual and automatic asset linking. My question is:Is there a way to create a rule or notification that alerts me whenever an asset link is created automatically, and also when that automatic link is broken or disconnected?I'd appreciate any guidance or best practices on how to monitor these automatic asset link events.

Hi everyone,I'm trying to find a way to receive an alert whenever a GO device stops communicating with MyGeotab.I'm not looking for an exception rule based on engine diagnostics or GPS data. Instead, I would like to know if there is a way to configure a notification, rule, or any other native feature that alerts us when a GO device loses communication with the database for a defined period of time (for example, 15 or 30 minutes).I couldn't find an option for this in the Exception Rules. Is this possible using native MyGeotab functionality, or would it require an Add-In, API, or another solution?Thank you in advance!

@HLui-1390 Thank you for your response. There is actually a way to achieve this by using a specific condition in a rule. I will share the configuration I'm using so you can review it. However, I'd like to clarify that while this condition allows me to detect when the GO device has been unplugged, it does not detect when the device loses cellular signal or communication with the server. That is the part I'm still trying to solve. The condition is "Fault[diagnostic=DiagnosticDeviceHasBeenUnpluggedId]" I have named the rule 'battery disconnection'

@HLui-1390 Thanks for the clarification. What I'm referring to is the power connection/disconnection, either for the vehicle battery or for the GO device itself. My goal is to detect when the device loses its power source and when power is restored, regardless of whether it's caused by the battery being disconnected or the device being unplugged. I understand that the exception is only generated once the device powers up again, but I'm specifically looking for diagnostics or events related to the loss and restoration of power. For the reconnection, the condition would be the following "Fault[diagnostic=DiagnosticDeviceRestartedBecauseAllPowerWasRemovedId]"

Hi,Thank you for your help. You were absolutely right. After contacting our Geotab support team, they confirmed that the issue was related to a database-level setting. They enabled the required Asset Coupling configuration in our database, and the automatic asset linking is now working correctly. We now have this feature enabled and working as expected.I really appreciate your guidance—it pointed us in the right direction.I have one more question: now that Asset Coupling is enabled, is there any way to configure a rule, exception, or notification that alerts us if the link between the tractor and trailer is broken or if an asset becomes unlinked? We'd like to be notified immediately whenever the automatic asset association is lost. Thanks again for your support!

wow this information is a amazing, Is the EnableAssetCouplingGeneric feature flag something that any reseller can request to have enabled, or is it currently being rolled out only to specific databases?

No, thanks for your help. Now I need help with something else.I have a lot of questions about asset linking when creating the association automatically. Let me explain: previously I worked for another company that was also implementing Geotab — actually, I implemented it from scratch, so I've learned a lot about the platform. In that previous job, the links were created automatically. Now that I'm at a new company, also using the platform, they're not being created automatically and have to be done through the Geotab Drive app. Do you know what I might be missing? All assets, both GO devices and Flex Solar units, are under the same work group. Could there be a setting I'm overlooking?

Thanks for the suggestion.I already enabled the "Send Messages" permission for the user, but the "Send" button is still disabled and the command cannot be executed. The user can access the IOX Output Add-In and select the vehicle and state, but cannot send the command. Is there any additional security clearance or permission required besides "Send Messages"?
