        Termination shunt

The IOX comes with a termination shunt installed in the expansion port. If you plan to install more than one IOX in a daisy chain, you must remove the shunt from each device in the daisy chain, except for the last IOX connected. The shunt must remain in the last IOX and secured with a cable tie.

The shunt in the last IOX device ensures the GO device detects and configures the IOX as effectively as possible.

NOTE: Failing to install the shunt in the last IOX could affect IOX communication. It is recommended that you secure the shunt using a cable tie if not already done.

        Default Logging Features

Two default logging features are supported by the IOX-SATIRDv2: 1) Alert Button Notification: Allows the driver to send an alert/distress log to the cloud. While the log is being transmitted to MyGeotab, the GO device will continually beep. The GO device notifies the driver when the message is received by MyGeotab by stopping the beep.

        2) Poll: Provides the option to request the current location of the device. In MyGeotab:

        1. Select the vehicle on the live map.
        2. Click the small arrow, located to the right of the vehicle name in the list. From the dropdown menu, select Request current location.

        Base Logging Features

! IMPORTANT: In order to enable base logging features of the IOX-SATIRDv2, the following Custom Parameters must be applied through the Fleet Management Application to a GO device which is inside cellular coverage. If the vehicle is out of cellular range, the GO device will not receive firmware updates or other device parameter updates - and the functionality will not be turned on as a result.

In order to add a custom parameter, follow these steps:

        1. Navigate to the Vehicles & Assets page and select an asset
        2. On the Asset Edit page, select the Settings tab and expand the Advanced section
        3. In Custom Parameters, enter the text corresponding to the parameter you are interested in in the tables below
        4. Click Add new parameter
        5. At the top of the page, click Save. The change will take effect typically after the next vehicle ignition cycle (Reminder: The GO device must be in cellular coverage in order to receive the update)

The first custom parameter which modifies the base operation of the IOX-SATIRDv2 turns on the following functionality:

      5. Base Logging Features: This parameter enables the following insights to be delivered to MyGeotab via the Iridium satellite connection. This parameter turns on the following functionality:
        1. Ignition: Sends a log when the asset’s ignition state changes (On or Off).
        2. Acceleration Level Event: Allows the device to send a GPS log with reason 'IridiumAccelEvent' when it records a change in acceleration of 2.5 g or more (indicating a possible collision).
        3. Monitor Movement w/ IGN Off: Allows the device to send a location update if the device detects movement while the connected asset is off.
        4. Out of Cellular Coverage: Logs "MODEM_OUT_OF_COVERAGE" when the device’s cellular connection is lost and the asset is On.

The following table includes the text which must be input in the Custom Parameters field in the Fleet Management Application to turn on Base Plan Logging Features.

        Base Logging Features

The second custom parameter which modifies the base operation of the IOX-SATIRDv2 modifies the interval at which GPS location updates are sent to the Fleet Management Application. By default, the IOX-SATIRDv2 will only provide GPS location updates at every ignition event and will not update location on a time interval.

The following table includes the text which must be input in the Custom Parameters field in the Fleet Management Application to update GPS location every 30 minutes while the asset is in operation.

        Location Update Frequency

The third, and final, custom parameter which modifies IOX-SATIRDv2 behavior is related to the use of an IOX-AUXM daisy chained to a GO + IOX-SATIRDv2. Users have the option to use AUX1 on the IOX-AUXM to send an alert message if an alert button is attached to this input:

        1. Alert Trigger on IOX-AUXM Wire #1: Sends an alert message if an alert button (not supplied) is triggered on the first input of the IOX-AUXM. Please contact Geotab support if the desired implementation uses the alert button on a different input of the IOX-AUXM.

The following table includes the text which must be input in the Custom Parameters field in the Fleet Management Application to allow an alert message to be sent via AUX1 on the IOX-AUXM:

Alert Trigger on IOX-AUXM Wire #1

Note: An IOX-AUXM must be installed and daisy-chained with the IOX-SATIRDv2 to the GO device Male Mini-USB connector.

        Extended Logging Features

In addition to the Default Logging Features and Base Logging Features, the IOX-SATIRDv2 features extended logging features that are only available on an as-requested by the Partner/Customer as they may increase Iridium data usage. Please create a support ticket for more information on these features.

        1. Monitor Vehicle Voltage: Allows the device to send a message when the vehicle’s voltage drops below a defined voltage level.
        2. IOX-AUXM Logging over Iridium : Allows the IOX-AUXM to send a message over Iridium that includes GPS position if one of its input wires changes state.
