Device reports

Device reports help you track and manage the devices in your database.

The following device reports are available in MyGeotab:
  • Device status report

  • Watchdog report

Device Status report

Detailed information about your assets is collected in the Device Status report.

The Device Status report shows your device details in a single unified format. You can access it in Standard and Advanced versions, depending on the data you need.

The Standard Device Status report includes the following device data:
  • Vehicle name

  • License plate

  • VIN

  • Odometer

  • Device version

  • Groups

The Advanced Device Status report expands the report’s scope to include:
  • Engine hours

  • Work time

  • Plan information

  • Device type

  • Firmware version

  • Device serial number

The Device Status reports are accessed on the Assets page.

Viewing the Device Status report

Learn how to view the Device Status report to access key information about your assets.

  1. Navigate to the Assets page in the main menu.
  2. Filter the page using the available Filters to select the assets you want to include in the report.
  3. View the report in the format of your choice:
    • To download the report, click the Report icon and select the format of your choice.
    • To prepare a PDF copy of the report for download, click the Report icon. Select the More actions menu for the format of your choice and click Prepare PDF.
    • To view the report directly in the application, click the Report icon. Select the More actions menu for the format of your choice and click View in browser.

Depending on the size of your report, it may take some time to generate. Navigate to Reports > My Reports to view its status.

Watchdog report

View current information about the communication and activation statuses of your fleet using the Watchdog report.

The Watchdog report displays the current statuses of your devices. Devices are categorized using the following eight statuses:
StatusDescription
OK (Highlighted in Dark Green)The device has communicated within the previous 24 hours.
OK (Stationary)The device has communicated within the previous 24 hours but has not transmitted a recent GPS log within the Movement Interval (Hours) threshold.
Offline for 2-3 days (Highlighted in Yellow)The device has not communicated for 2-3 full days.
Note: If the device is not communicating for 1 full day, it will still show OK on the report.
Offline for 3-21 days (Highlighted in Orange)The device has not communicated for 3-21 days.
Offline for 21+ days (Highlighted in Red)The device has not communicated for 21 or more days.
Not Installed (Highlighted in Light Green)The device is not installed in an asset.
Not Active (Highlighted in Gray)The device is inactive.
Device is not downloading dataShown for devices that are not communicating to our servers currently.

Additionally, the Last Communication Date column can be used to determine when the device last communicated with servers, while the Download Status column indicates if the device is currently communicating with servers.

Important: The Watchdog report is limited to current data only and cannot pull data from past dates.

Viewing the Watchdog Report

Learn how to view the Watchdog report to track device statuses in your fleet.

  1. Navigate to the Assets page in the main menu.
  2. Filter the page using the available Filters to select the assets you want to include in the report.
  3. Select Reports > Watchdog Report to download an Excel copy of the report.

Depending on the size of your report, it may take some time to generate. Navigate to Reports > My Reports to view its status.
