The Maintenance tab on the Asset Details page helps you manage service for a specific vehicle and reduce repair costs.

Viewing urgent maintenance issues for a vehicle

Addressing urgent maintenance issues helps you fix major problems before a vehicle breaks down. By checking for flagged work requests and severe engine faults, you can decide which repairs need to happen today to keep your assets moving.

  1. Navigate to Assets in the main menu.
  2. Find the asset you want to view.
    1. Search for the asset by name using the search bar.
    2. Open the Filter to filter the list by group, asset type, or status to see groups of assets.
  3. Click the asset name to open the Asset Details page.
  4. Click the Maintenance tab.
  5. Review the Immediate Actions section.

The Immediate Actions section at the top of the page shows the most urgent issues for this vehicle so you can avoid downtime. This section shows cards for:

  • High or critical work requests: Notifications of urgent maintenance needs that have been flagged.

  • Severe faults: A count of critical faults detected over the last 7 days.

  • Open major defects: Alerts regarding significant defects reported during inspections.

Viewing the breakdown risk of a vehicle

Checking the risk of breakdown for a vehicle allows you to see if the vehicle is likely to fail soon. This helps you plan for service and fix problems before they cause an unexpected breakdown on the road.

Note: Breakdown risk is based on the most severe fault code or combinations of fault codes found on the vehicle. Only vehicles that Geotab detects having an issue will show a risk score. This metric is currently only available for OBD-II vehicles.

    2. Open the Filter to filter the list by group, asset type, or status to see groups of assets.
  3. Click the asset name to open the Asset Details page.
  4. Click the Maintenance tab.
  5. Review the risk of breakdown under Asset Health.

The Risk of breakdown section uses data to predict if a vehicle might fail. It shows a risk level from Low to Critical and a percentage score. This helps you quickly see how soon the vehicle needs service.

The Diagnostics panel lists the following vital vehicle data, if available:

  • Electrical system rating (ESR): Tracks battery and electrical health.

  • Engine coolant temp: Shows the temperature of the coolant.

  • Oil life: Shows the remaining oil life.

  • Battery voltage: Shows the current power output (for example: 15 V).

  • Tire pressures: Shows the PSI and status (for example: High, Low) for each tire.

Note: The data shown depends on the vehicle and its sensors.

  5. Review the Maintenance Summary section.

The Maintenance Summary section shows a summary of all service tasks and costs for the vehicle. This view gives you information like open and pending requests, completed work orders, and total repair spend for the last 12 months.

The Last Asset Inspection section shows the most recent inspection results. It includes any major or minor defects found by drivers.
