EV Charge Monitoring overview

The EV Charge Monitoring page helps you ensure EVs are charged and ready for their next job.

Using the EV Charge Monitoring page, you can identify and resolve charging problems such as:

  • Plug in failures

  • Driver errors

  • Vehicle malfunctions

  • Charge station malfunctions

  • Charge station software scheduling problems

The page also helps you understand which vehicles are ready now, and which will be ready later. This helps your staff make informed decisions and manage your queue of vehicles waiting to charge.

EV Charge Monitoring table

The EV Charge Monitoring table shows the following information:

Asset name

The name of the EV asset.

Charging status

Indicates whether the vehicle is currently charging.

EV charging exceptions

A list of exceptions to EV charging rules that have occurred in the last 24 hours.

State of Charge

The battery charge level (%)

Charging power

The power entering the battery (kW)

Charge complete time

The estimated date and time when the battery State of Charge will reach 90%.

Remaining range

The Predicted remaining driving range, based on remaining battery charge and recent driving history.

Location

The EV asset's current location.

EV Charge Monitoring data considerations

Keep the following in mind when viewing data in the EV Charge Monitoring table:

  • Data for the Charge complete time column may not be available for all vehicles. Complete time depends on:

    • Charging status (the vehicle must be charging)

    • Charging power (the vehicle must have positive power into the battery)

    • Battery capacity (the vehicle must have enough driving/charging data history to generate an estimate of battery capacity)

  • Users must have the Time to Charge Complete security clearance to view data in the Charge complete time column

  • Assets require at least one month of driving history to populate the Remaining range column

  • Users must have the View EV Performance Data security clearance to view data in the Remaining range column

EV Charge Monitoring summary cards

The summary cards on the EV Charge Monitoring page let you quickly view assets in different charging states in MyGeotab.

The summary cards at the top of the EV Charge Monitoring page allow you to quickly filter the table to view certain data points.

The following data points are available as summary cards:

Card titleDefinition
Ev Charging Rule Exceptions

Vehicles that have violated an EV charging rule in the past 24 hours. To view this information, you must enable one or more EV charging rules:

  • EV Low Charge

  • EV Done Charging

  • EV Enters Charging Zone with Low Charge

  • EV Exits Charging Zone with Low Charge

  • EV Stopped in Charging Zone and Not Charging

Full ChargeVehicles with a State of Charge of at least 90%.
Low ChargeVehicles with a State of Charge of 30% or less.
ChargingVehicles that are currently charging.
Not ChargingVehicles that are not currently charging.
Note: Summary cards display only when vehicles in your fleet match the card's data criteria. Depending on your fleet's EV statuses, not all summary cards may be visible at all times.

Quick filtering the EV Charge Monitoring table

Learn how to quickly filter the EV Charge Monitoring page in MyGeotab using summary tiles.

  1. Navigate to Fuel and Energy > EV Charge Monitoring in the main menu.
  2. Click the summary card you want to filter by at the top of the page.
    Note: Hover over the Info icon on each card to view a description of the assets the card displays.
The table automatically filters to display only assets that meet the card's data criteria. You can click the card again to remove the filter from the table.
