GO9+ Wi-Fi Hotspot
Overview of the GO9+ Wi-Fi hotspot feature.
Wi-Fi functionality is not available on the GP9-LTETENG version of the GO9+.
Wi-Fi Hotspot Prerequisites
Prerequisites for using the GO9+ Wi-Fi hotspot.
To use the GO9+ Wi-Fi hotspot, ensure these prerequisites are met:
- Ensure your MyGeotab database is on the latest version of the software. To check your version, navigate to Support > About in the main menu.
- Ensure the device is connected, communicating, and is on either the GO Plan or the ProPlus + Wi-Fi rate plan. To check the device rate plan, go to the Assets page in the MyGeotab main menu, find the asset, click its name, then click the Devices & Settings tab. The rate plan is shown in the Primary Device section.
Enabling and Configuring the Wi-Fi Hotspot
Enable and configure the Wi-Fi hotspot on the GO9+ in MyGeotab.
On the desired mobile device, navigate to Wi-Fi settings and look for the network with the name specified in step 5. Enter the password to connect.
Configuring Hotspot Duration
Configure how long the GO9+ Wi-Fi hotspot remains active after the vehicle ignition is turned off.
By default, the Wi-Fi hotspot turns off when the vehicle ignition is turned off and the device enters sleep mode. You can keep the hotspot active after ignition off by following the steps below.
- In the MyGeotab main menu, navigate to the Assets page.
- On the Assets page, find the vehicle you want to configure. Use the Search field and Groups dropdown to filter the list, then click the vehicle name in the Asset column to go to its Asset Edit page.
- On the Asset Edit page, select the Devices & Settings tab and then click Show advanced settings.
- In the advanced settings, specify a duration in the Turn external device off dropdown. You can choose to have the hotspot turn off immediately, or after 10 minutes, 1 hour, or 4 hours.
- Click Save.
Using this feature to keep the Wi-Fi hotspot active will drain the vehicle battery.
Device hotspot will be throttled for the remainder of the month once you reach the monthly data usage limit. Functionality will still be available, but at a slower speed. You are responsible for monitoring your data usage. Geotab will not be responsible or liable for any losses or damages arising from hotspot data throttling once the monthly data usage limit is exceeded.
